Gruden out and Gibbs back in??

Post by DaSkinz Baby »

So I just heard from a friend that works for the Skins that Snyder is courting Gibbs again to finish out the year and let him help pick the coach for next year! Before you ask he works directly for Snyder!

Thoughts????

I don't believe this - this would be a huge mistake for Snyder ... Snyder's stupid but even he is not this dumb ...

I love Joe Gibbs but this is just not happening ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Sorry, this isn't happening. I have known a couple people who've worked for Danny boy day-to-day on the business side. They were told nothing about football operations.

Gibbs walked away the first chance he had after seeing Snyder as an owner.

Also --- It is the GENERAL MANAGER'S job to select the HC. So basically, what you are saying is that by having Gibbs select the next HC, Danny boy will inevitably also fire Scot..... because that would be undermining Scot's position as GM...... That being said, based on Danny historical actions, it sounds about right.

If this actually happened, I'm sorry to say, but we are cursed until Danny dies or sells. Danny boy is obviously too dumb/ego-driven to learn from his mistakes.

Dan Snyder has cursed DC.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Exactly!! If this were to happen it would under mind any and everything that the Redskins are trying to do under SM.

So with the amount of people that finally have had enough, with all the bad press Snyder is getting. Let's also take into consideration SM as GM being in the news for screwing the ESPN reporter do you think he is on stable ground? There are rumors that SM was with Gruden benching RGIII and wanted to release him. Why is RGIII still here? How was he bowling with Snyder the week prior to him being demoted. Snyder is known for marketing. I wouldn't be surprised. My friend said let the Redskins lose to the Rams again next week and watch how fast something is done. The fact is Gruden hasn't earned or done anything in the NFL and it's obvious he is a dead man coaching. I too was like no I don't believe this however my friend has been right going all the way back to Zorn being hired so I sort of have to think there is something going on at Redskin Park.....

We shall see, I don't know why he would say that with no reason. I too am skeptical but stranger things have happened.

I agree with the other skeptics there is nothing to this rumor.

1. Gibbs would never come back to work for Synder.

2. I think SM is driving the bus and I also think SM is probably a lot happier about Sunday's game than the fans. Jay did a decent job of running SM's big boy ball and it worked pretty well first time out. Clean up the penalties and a special team mistake and they look like a .500 team. I think they would have won it with DeSean Jackson because as good as they were running the Cousins and Jackson would have hooked up on play action a few times. They almost did on the play Jackson got stepped on and hurt.

Joe Gibbs is done with the Washington Redskins. That's not saying Dan Snyder hasn't called him or asked him for advice on the next head coach. Gibbs isn't coaching again.

Also, I just realized this doesn't do much of a job of censoring profanity. My fault. 8-[

Ridiculous. Joe Gibbs Racing is financially sound now. The only reason he came back the first time was to fund the race team. He wouldn't make that mistake again...especially with Tiny still in charge.

Joe Gibbs hasn’t given up on Robert Griffin III
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc- ... iffin-iii/
“I would say this: Dan never once, ever, interfered with anything that was going on with the coaching staff, the whole time I was there,” Gibbs said. “Dan was totally devoted into just giving us everything that it takes to win. And I would have to say it’s exactly the same today. The guy has a burning desire to win, he was so supportive of me. And I don’t care if it was signing a free agent, he was on the phone with me at 12:01 as an owner, talking to players, trying to recruit them.

“The agents probably loved Dan because they knew that they could make a deal with him, and we did very well in free agency,” Gibbs said. “The whole time I was there, if we lost football games, it was my fault, never Dan’s fault. And he never interfered with things. I would go in and talk things over with him, because he’s smart. A sharp guy. And so we shared that, and both of us just wanted the Redskins to win.”

Loves Dan. Loves Robert. Its all starting to come clear now, isn't it??? :)

- Not likely to happen

- I think Joe Gibbs could walk into Redskin Park and will the team into the playoffs by his second season

- I also think that Gibbs is 75. He has a racing team...he can live at home, see his wife and coach his grand-children in youth football. No reason for Gibbs to return to the NFL and the hours and stress it requires. Further, I George Halas might be the only person who coached an NFL team when he was 75. If Gibbs returned, he might not live through that second season. Why bother?

- Did Gibbs praise Snyder? Of course. Most of that is probably true: Snyder probably did not interfere with Gibbs, and Gibbs has never criticized anyone to the press. Not even the Body-baggers and Buddy Ryan.

- Not likely.

I thought Gibbs owned a piece of the team, that was part of the deal when he came back.

this is amazing stuff - some of you guys really have no clue if you place any value on this ...

Joe Gibbs is not coming back to coach this franchise and especially given the mess that it's in ...

Joe understands there's a GM here that can help straighten this out - he's not interfering with that at all ..
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Not sure which "guys" you are referring to. The only person who seems to place any value on this non-rumor is the "guy" who started the thread.

Gibbs is not coming back, and I'm not sure I'd want to do that to a 75 year old man anyways. Also, Gruden's contract is fully guarenteed, meaning if Snyder fired him during the season, he'd walk away with whatever he had for this year, plus 12 million more for the next 3 years. Snyder is an evil blood sucking vampire, but he's not a stupid businessman.

Gruden stays the year at the very least.

Even firing him after two years is kind of insane for a bunch of reasons. The five year contract is obviously a huge part of that.

I'm not sure if Snyder would ever take this into consideration, but what quality coach in his right mind would be willing to take this job after that? This is not a very attractive situation as it is. You fire a coach two years into a five year contract, because he didn't turn around this horrible roster quickly enough? Because he couldn't work miracles with RG3? That's freaking nuts. This job is becoming a death sentence for coaches.

I'm still not sure what exactly Gruden has done to warrant any of these calls for him to be fired in the first place. People can choose to like or dislike him for whatever reasons, but I hate to break it to people. We're not coming off a 4-12 season because Jay Gruden is an awful coach.

Won't stop fans from arguing the point. Every two years the fan base brain trust tells us that we need a new coach because this one can't call plays. That's really been working out well.

Bring back Joe Gibbs would be a monumental mistake. He was one of the best head coaches at one time. His time is past. If he came back now it would be an embarrassment for him.
