yikes. And people are predicting us to go 2-14 this year? What an (ongoing) embarrassment that would be.
just amazing how much of a mess one man can cause ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
This is part of the reason I'm so frustrated about the Griffin fiasco - first of all it looks to me like Snyder & Allen brought Jay Gruden here, in part, to help Griffin become a better NFL QB - Gruden got too involved with being the HC and IMHO quickly decided that Griffin was a lost cause and also that Cousins better suited what he wanted to do anyway - the fact that Griffin was the owner's pet QB did not sit too well with Gruden but he was forced (IMHO) to give him another chance this past off-season and in doing so determined again that he would be better off with Cousins and McCoy - I really think that Scot stepped in and told Snyder & Allen that Gruden should be given another season and that he would keep Griffin around while that happened if he could not make a good trade for him
the dilemma is that IMHO we were better off if Griffin could have proved to be a better QB and now that we're fairly sure he is not, we are royally screwed because not only will we need a new HC next season we'll also need a QB to start grooming for when we have a decent O line again - Cousins is just a good backup QB and he's certainly not here next season as he mistakenly thinks he's a starting QB
Cousins could pull a Gannon and become a really good QB and Gruden could suddenly morph into a really good HC ....
just wait until next year and we get a top 5 pick again ...

Did Scotty Mc draft Russell Wilson? WE shoulda got him instead of this wanna-be qb from Baylor.
Oh well..............let's move on to SUNDAY...!!!
Indy wasn't trading Luck or the #1 pick at any price. If all it took was money, no one would outspend Snyder. His ego wouldn't allow it.

Maybe the Knicks. There's no probably in their case.

No way the Skins get the top pick this is some dejected Griffin fanboys fantasy. I think we'll be a little better team than last season because SM added more beef on the line to rush better, Jones will help and Cousins make Gruden's WCO offense works better. Gruden has finally been allowed to name a QB that can run his offense. Griffin in the pocket was an albatross. I think it would be a boost to morale if Griffin is cut so it is clear to the team Snyder is letting SM and JG run the team.
Cousins will probably be better than last year most games and I think his teammate prefer him. He'll need to not try to do too much and rely on his teammates to do more and the rest of the team has to respond. I also have hope for modest improvement on the defensive side. I think with a little luck and stability in the lineup they can win 6-8 games.

And honestly it wouldn't have mattered anyways. I'm convinced the Redskins would have somehow ruined Andrew Luck as well.
Absolutely. Shanahan's refusal to hire a quarterback coach and his "my system or no system" approach would have ruined any quarterback.

wrong! ... again ... I just love correcting your posts
the article is from that idiot Prisco .. he is not "some dejected Griffin fanboy ... " by any stretch
I don't think we're even a top 5 pick, but ... this franchise has many issues to address to become decent again

It's basically incorrect to surmise that this franchise should not have drafted Griffin ....
the problem here (until Scot came in) has not been who we might have drafted or who might have done a better job of coaching here
the problem here since 1999 has been that Dan Snyder was a part of the decision making
this franchise would have been better off without Dan's meddling - it's disappointing that he appears to still be doing it ...

I'm curious after week 1 if we're still ranked the #32 team in the league?

We never should have been - only an idiot with an agenda really thought that this franchise was that bad ...

I don't see how we could be. Our rushing game was excellent. Our passing game was solid, especially after the loss of DJax, when Garcon and Reed stepped up. We only gave up 17 points, which is about ten less than we gave up per game last season.

you're absolutely correct .... but a lot of these 'rankings' are not based on reality ...

Yeah. I never buy into the "agenda" argument. But like I wrote before the season, I think this has more to do with journalists and talking heads being lazy. They do it every year.
I can list five teams from the weekend who should be contending for that spot: Jags, Raiders, Tampa, Cleveland and Houston. No surprises there. Falcons and 49ers might be a little shaky as well.
I don't know how important it is really to not be the absolute worst. But just playing somewhere in the middle of the pack this year would be huge for this team IMO.

IMO all we need to do this season is to continue to show what can happen when NFL guys are in charge .... and have Dan Snyder let Scot continue the work he's started - there were some VERY encouraging signs yesterday with players on both lines that Scot brought in here
I'm also V encouraged by what we've seen (OK it's only 1 game) from McVay, Berry and Callahan

Washington Redskins this week: 29 last week: 31 record: 0-1 The 49ers quieted several months' worth of noise, at least in the short-term, by scoring a Week 1 win. Washington missed its opportunity to do the same. Speaking purely from a job-security angle, Jay Gruden cannot afford too many more possible victories to slip away.
I take my small pleasures where I can get them with this team.

Based on those rankings one win would vault us into the top 20.

Speaking of players who made plays on Sunday, he made a couple of nice ones.
