1 Down and 2 to go
Ever since training camp started and the first two preseason games, there have been 3 players that I've been wanting the Redskins to cut
The first came today with IFFY...Now don't get me wrong and I'm not trying to bash the guy, he played very well for the Redskins and made the best of his opportunity the Redskins gave him as an undrafted rookie out of USC, but face it people--he played his way off of the team...When Taylor got drafted he knew he had to step up his game bigtime to make this team or he could give in and give a piss-poor effort...and he gave a piss-poor effort forcing the coaches to cut him...If you compare his play this year to his past two years and it's like night and day...he just looked like crap--all the way across the board...getting beat and getting beat very, very badly (his lack of speed has always made him prone for that) made it obvious to me that it seemed like he didn't even give a damn
Second, I'm getting sick and tired of Ade Jimoh getting beat like a drum...I didn't like him last year when he got victimized almost every single play and I don't like him this year getting beat every single play...If I watch the films from the first two preseason games, every single time they throw his way it is a completion..he has yet to make 1 good play in a game when it matters...the coaches may like the way he practices and that's what earned him a spot on the squad last year but he can't do what needs to be done when it comes to game time
Third, Todd Franz...OK, he made an interception thus far and that was a good play on his part but, like Jimoh, does not have what it takes to play in this league...He does not have nearly enough speed, can't cover a penny if he sat on it and couldn't tackle a 4th grade math problem
Pay attention to Franz and Jimoh this weekend and you'll see what I mean and for those of you who have the first two games on tape or any film of last year, replay them and you'll see what I mean and I'll let there play back up my talk
(of course I do hope they prove me dead wrong--Personally Franz might but not Jimoh)

I agree on Jimoh, but I think Franz could be a contributor, possibly.

Jimoh probably got more reps than he deserved this summer because Walt Harris is only just now healthy enough to start practicing, and none of their other corners (Baumann, Brown) has distinguished themselves either.
As for Franz, it's understood that anything he gives you defensively is a bonus. He's primarily a special teamer.
Finally, let's remember there haven't been any mandatory cuts yet. Ohalete was apparently released for attitude problems and Winey to clear a roster space. We'll see who gets the ax when the team has to start cutting down for real in another week or so.

(I'm gonna get killed for this)
In his later years, Darrell Green alo got beat consistently...and then ran down the guy to tackle him. The big difference here is...Jimoh is so young, he shouldn't be getting beat like that!
I don't think Jimoh is strong enough to even be a ST player.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again, Jimoh is a waste of roster space.

He is right, Smoot did start over Darrell Green. I remember when they moved him to slot.
He got beat but hey no one one is a 100% shut down corner.

Darn right! Lets not forget he was 40 YEARS OLD! Most men that age can't even jog without getting winded. He was covering 20 year old men in their prime and was at least an above average nickel back.[/quote]

I don't see why calling it as it was is such a travesty. Green got old. If he could still do it, he'd still be here...bucket in hand.
Ade Jimoh ? Give me a break. Fodder.
Franz ? In my view, the jury is still out. He could come in handy. Let's see if Jackson can "coach him up".
(Who's gonna get killed now, Justice ? I threw out a Spurrierism to getcha off the hook !)

Jimoh yes. It's been said before, but how can they keep Jimoh and cut Iffy. I know they are watching the same games we are. They HAD to watch last years tapes.
I digress, Gibbs and Co. have always had a knack for finding the diamonds in the rough. They have the rings, we don't. They probably see something deeper.
