Offseason Wish Lists, Anyone?

Post by Jake »

Here's mine:

Quarterback:
Re-sign Hasselbeck

Running Back:
Sign Kevin Faulk or Kevan Barlow or
draft or sign Kevin Jones or Cadillac Williams.

Tight End: Dump Chamberlain and Flemister in the
offseason if Chamberlain is not in shape and Flemister is still giving a half-trying effort on the field.
*Sign Jason Dunn if Byron and Zeron go.
*Draft or sign Kellen Winslow, Jr., Jeff Dugan, Ben Utecht, or Ben Watson.

Defensive Tackle:
*Re-sign Martin Chase or Bernard Holsey AND Darrell Russell.
* If we can only re-sign Russell, Either we sign Paul Grasmanis, Kelly Gregg, or Cornelius Griffin OR we draft or sign Darnell Dockett (which some mock drafts have us acquiring), Randy Starks, Marcus Tubbs, or DeMarco McNeil.

Defensive End:
Okay, it's basically a fact that Bruce will retire at the end of the year if he gets the sack record (because we know that's all he cares about). I think Upshaw will improve a little bit as a starter next season but if he doesn't here are some free agent options:
*Sign Jevon Kearse, Adewale Ogunleye, Adalius Thomas, or bring back Peppi Zellner and let him keep switching off as a DT/DE.
* Draft or sign Will Smith, David Pollack, Antwan Odom, or Bo Schobel.

Cornerback:
* We should sign Champ to an average contract (since that's the type of year he's having) or say "Enjoy playing with your brother in Detroit!"

*If Champ doesn't come back sign:
Antoine Winfield, Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent, Charles Woodson, or Ahmed Plummer. We should definitely sign my boy Kato Serwanga for special teams.

*We could also draft or sign:
DeAngelo Hall or Keiwan Ratliff.

Safety:
*Bring back Ifeanyi Ohalete and/or David Terrell. Bring in Victor Green.

*Draft or sign Brandon Everage, Madieu Williams, Jason Shivers, or Will Allen.

I'll leave the prognosticating until we've done up the draft section, but IMO, we have to add the following:

a GM (which may prompt many moves)
a DT
a DE
a safety
a CB to replace Champ
a TE to replace any of what we have

I'd like to see Champ franchised actually, and then someone be gracious enough to up a first and second rounder. It seems like the best we can hope for at this point as I just don't think he'll be returning.

Thorough list though Jake.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

a GM (which may prompt many moves)

truthfully, thats all i want.... a real gm.... rich mckay is leaving tampa, danny, get the jet and checkbook ready, and let go of the wheel.....if we could just get a football mind in the front office, all would be well....
our needs are mostly defense, that can be taken care of through a few good moves in free agency, and a smart draft, again a good gm would take care of that, and thats all i want...

GM, beer and wings...

I like the thoughts of seeing Pollack in burgundy is enough to make me give up the wings! But I suspect I will have the wings as Pollack will end up elsewhere.
