1. People refuse to hold him accountable. 2. His refusal to self evaluate his handling of the media is no different than his alleged inability to truly evaluate where he is as a QB. That's a trait of his personality and isn't unique to one area. It's who he is. In that way, it is related to on-the-field stuff. He's showing people who he is, they just refuse to accept it.

I guess the part that irks me the most is while I don't think he's some evil bad guy who's all about himself, I do think he's a bit delusional and has a totally different view of himself than everyone else. I just think he's kind of awkward, and doesn't know how to give responses to certain questions.
And for those who say this is being blown totally out of proportion, can you imagine if Derek Carr, Geno Smith, or Josh McCown made such declarations? Like literally word for word what he said, and I can almost guarantee (outside of maybe Carr) it would be blown up all over the place like the Griffin story. And it has nothing to do with tearing him down. It's about his lack of perception.

hah. Man, I don't know where I wrote that we have to all "speak highly of this kid". I'm not making any such request, and I agree 100% with what you're saying.
This just seems like a good instance where the fans should have the kid's back and call BS on the media for trying to push this garbage story. But oh well. I guess we'll have to read for another day or two (at least until after the Detroit game) about how we have to pound our fists on the table and "hold Griffin accountable" for his outrageous words.
Enjoy yourselves. This is all very important.

I don't really disagree with you, if I were looking at just this statement. At this point, I can't help but look at the totality of the situation and it's irritating. I think people are just tired of the talk.

Agreed! Count me among those people tired of the talk. And he'd better hope like hell he has a better preseason showing tomorrow night or people are going to be throwing these particular words right back at him.

And that's exactly it. That's where my frustration stems from. He's creating a more hostile environment for himself, needlessly so.
Our rookie Preston answering a question about him being a starter. Our 2nd round rookie can do it, why can't RGIII?
Preston Smith wrote:“I just see myself working and earning some playing time,” he said. “I can’t say I see myself starting, because I’m a rookie. But it’s just showing the coaches I have what it takes and can do whatever they need. I’m trying to pick up as much as I can on an NFL level, and learn from guys like Junior, who has had double-digit sacks, back to back, and Ryan, who should’ve been a Pro Bowler, and Trent, who’s a second-year guy and doing a lot of good things. I feel like I can learn a lot because there’s so much experience in the room.”

I get what you're saying, but it's not like he had that bad of a showing against the Browns. But for the drop by Garcon, and an apparently incorrect route by the receiver on another play, he would have finished 7-8 with over 100 yards and a TD.

This is what apparently happened. The Browns defender played Garcons route in a manner that took it away, so Garcon improvised. Both he and Griffin read the defensive look and as RGIII said "were on the same page". Being an off script play, led to the mishap of an under-thrown and oddly placed ball. But still one that was catch-able.
Griffin looked better than he has. Griffins performance on its own wasn't great, wasn't bad. It was decent. The problem for many is how good Kirk looked in the pocket and how it contrasted to RGIII who still and more than likely will forever look uncomfortable in the pocket.

It's amazing how he plays the least but needs the most work... Mind boggling.
That's the catch 22.
The more he plays the less we get to see of potential 2nd teamers playing with the whole playbook and an (apparently) already competent QB. The less he plays the more we get to see of the 2nd teamers in a meaningful way ... but he works less and he needs every rep he can get.

This is 100% right.
Which is mind boggling. Are they trying to develop Griffin this year (in year 4 mind you), or are they trying to win football games? Not saying Cousins or McCoy are the answer at QB, but with the way they've scaled back the offense with Griffin ("basic"), makes me think they don't have much faith in him running the offense the way they want it ran.
I think we should can the coaches we have and get some guys that recognize that Cousins should be the starter because Griffin is too busy talking to the media and not working on getting ready to play
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
I'm far from the "Griffin can do no evil" poster most attribute to me... Just a habitual defender of the over criticizers and those who refuse to give him credit when it's due.
THIS is as equally a non issue as him practicing with his pops AFTER practice. I for one am glad to see my boy confident. If you don't convince yourself you are the best at what you do, you have no business competing vs the best.

I'm not trying to be RG3's friend I could careless what he say unless it does affect his teammates and how they work with him on game day. Look like Pierre, Trent support his words so I'm good with it.
Everybody quick to get into this off-the field stuff lately.

I'd like to see RGIII go Trump-style on this and say, "Yeah I said it, so what?" and have Skins fans say, "Yeah he said it, so what. STFU." But apparently we're all suddenly real sensitive about every word that comes out of our QB's mouth and will not be happy unless he gives only the appropiate, PR-approved responses.
Man up, fellas.
Though I agree with you here and I'd love for him to say "Yeah I said it, so what?".. RG3 has never been able to back up most things he's said to reporters or on social media. I guess I think he should say, well no let me stop telling lies.. he needs to just STFU to begin with. That wasn't even a mandatory Q&A segment and he pushes his bama a** self in front of the reporters. He needs to just STFU. I really don't know how else I can express that he just needs to STFU. In a bar yesterday with fellow Redskins' fans and we all said the same thing, you want to guess what it was?
there are many of us here that just want this QB situation to get resolved and it really does not matter who the QB is for this season - we just need to have someone manage the offense while Scot finds a way to get this franchise back on track ...
the reality is that we have this kid that showed us all a lot and then for whatever reason he had a lot of issues and we have a number of guys who have a vested interest in making the right choice for who plays QB here
no matter who is the QB here there are going to be a lot of bad feelings and blown out of proportion reporting until the franchise starts to play better - this is just another example of that
how in the world does anyone think that Griffin could get away with not saying anything to anyone - it is not possible
no matter what he says it will be dissected and blown out of proportion until the franchise does better on the field

Not just not possible. Its a job requirement. The NFL mandates that the teams make their starting QBs available for a certain amount of time to the press.

Yep. Of course you guys are all correct that he just needs to keep his answers as vanilla as possible. Jay Gruden ran into the same issue last year being too open, too off the cuff with the media.
Watch how quickly this "issue" goes away over the next 24 hours as people have the Lions game to talk about instead.

Let's not act like what's being asked of RGIII is some sort of monumental task. I'm simply asking him to be more surgical in his responses. I posted quotes of Preston Smith and other players doing that exact thing on the previous page. "The media" isn't going anywhere, it's not going to change. They are what they are, like it or not. RGIII needs to control what he can control, and that's himself. That's a similar sentiment to what Gruden (who Im not even the biggest fan of) said of RGIII last year, when he undressed him in front of the world. I'll paraphrase, "STFU and worry about doing your job correctly!".
