Nope. In fact, I don't remember any reports to that effect, much less constant ones. All of this besides the fact that this incident happened after practice was over.

Oh, OK. I thought you meant slack was given to him re: the comments his dad actually made about Shananigans, not the simple fact that he was there. I did not know that his dad was constantly at practice, but my reaction to that is 'meh'. I'd rather know I spent all the time with my dad I could than regret not having done so when I don't have the chance anymore.

He said it on the radio this morning. I don't have a link because I was listening to it live. Now granted, he did say it was not a big deal with regards to this one instance, but when goaded by Paul and Reid, he admitted that in the "big picture" it still didn't look good because of the drama involving the belief that some have that Griffin II is more involved than he should be.

Neither of those articles mentions anything about RGII being on the field during practices. In fact, they don't mention RGII at all. The first is from last season, so that didn't even fit your argument parameters being "during the Shanahan era." They both talk about "special privileges," but nothing like what you were alluding to.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
When other franchises have QB news revolving around suspensions for cheating, or getting their jaw broke by a teammate.... It's SUPER refreshing to see our boy in the news for staying after practice and working with his pops.

I said family, not just RGII.
"Let me give you an example. In the past, he had certain rules, things he was allowed to do that others were not. Like, his wife was allowed places in training camp. Other players’ wives were not. His family basically had an all-access pass. None of that is the case now."

NOW - we still need to see the product on the field
1) the biggest news coming out of TC so far has to be that the QB that so many thought could not/would not be able to both show improvement OR keep his position as the 'starting QB' here is apparently showing that he deserves the job
2) Scot has also shown that this franchise might be headed in the right direction if he is given a real chance to turn things around
looking forward to the game but I am fully aware that we do not have a lot of good players available

Think we'd better continue to wait to see Griffin actually play before we make any judgements on how he's doing.
Thought this was an appropriate comment from SI today about training camp reports:
I think training camp reports also need to be taken with a grain of salt, depending on what camp they’re coming from. What fans don’t think about is that beat writers for one team don’t get the same training camp access as beat writers from another. At some training camps, writers are gathered in an area where the field is hard to see, coaches and players are hard to hear and the action is therefore nearly impossible to follow. And there are plenty of camps where writers simply seek out a spot in the shade, keep an eye on things from afar but actually spend the whole time making small talk with one another. They’re not really paying attention. In fact, this is the case at most training camps. Quality camp reports therefore lean heavily on what the head coach says in his daily press conference. And at that point, you cease to have a quality camp report because a head coach—as he should—will only put out the message he wants to put out.

I don't know. I think the Skins reporters are following the action, or at least, the good ones are. This might explain some of those Jason Reid articles, though.

I agree though there are good reporters like Keim, Tandler, etc; who are clearly following the action closely. I think the point of that SI article was that you have to take the larger reporting with a grain of salt.

sorry, let me clarify - my impression from TC and I admit I'm biased
if Griffin was as hopeless a case as many seemed to think, and he was not worth spending any time with, which many were certain was the case, Scot and Gruden would have given a lot more time and effort into determining what they had in Cousins and McCoy and maybe brought in another QB - Griffin has apparently shown that he's worth spending time with - that is a huge step forward for this franchise
totally agree with 'reports' from TC' being unreliable and when you couple that with the incredibly biased DC media (for the most part) - we are obviously not getting much of an indication except what is 'interpreted' - however ... if Cousins had taken advantage of his situation and demonstrated his apparent superiority over Griffin, I think we'd have 'heard' that he was getting more reps with the first group - that has not happened according to the press no matter how far away they are
I'd love to see Cousins have a great night but I doubt he can convince the guys that matter that he has more to offer than Griffin
I could care less what the RG3 haters or the Cousins supporters want - I just want Scot to be able to continue the process of remaking this franchise and I think that is a lot easier if Griffin shows that he can be the franchise QB here beyond this rebuilding season
Griffin may or may not become an NFL QB - Cousins upside is that he's a good NFL back-up QB ... maybe not even that
hopefully we see some good stuff out of Griffin but the way I look at it - we've got a couple of seasons to go to make this offense good again and we can take that time to make sure this kid is really good in 2017

Pretty good breakdown.. missing as much players at we were, and the Garçon drop- I read Redd or someone also had a n easy catch dropped from Rob; I'm optimistic. Looks like something we can build upon, and hopefully field a competitive bunch week in and week out.
* my biggest takeaway is the OL looking pretty good for the most part with the ones... Biggest concern being TE now. I really hope for the players already injured to have speedy recoveries and stay healthy. When all of our starters are on the field, I think we have a pretty solid group with improved depth. We can't afford to burn through all of the depth before the season starts tho dammmn

Matt Jones - RB - Redskins Rookie RB Matt Jones rushed for 38 yards on five carries in the Redskins' preseason opener Thursday night. He added an 11-yard catch. Jones was the third back into the game behind starter Alfred Morris and Chris Thompson, though we wouldn't read too much into it. Jones easily outplayed Thompson and should comfortably pass him on the depth chart. The 95th pick in May's draft, Jones showed off his running ability on his first carry, taking it 23 yards. Niles Paul - TE - Redskins Coach Jay Gruden revealed Niles Paul will miss the entire season with an "ankle fracture dislocation." Paul's season is over before it even got off the ground. Early in Thursday night's preseason opener, Paul's ankle got rolled up and bent awkwardly at the end of a running play, requiring the cart and an air cast to get him off the field. It's a crushing blow to the Redskins, who are already concerned blocking TE Logan Paulsen may also miss the season with a toe injury. Jordan Reed, who missed the preseason opener with a hamstring injury, needs to get healthy because he's going to get all he can handle. Backup TE Je'Ron Hamm (leg) also got hurt Thursday. Silas Redd - RB - Redskins DeSean Jackson posted on his Instagram account that Redskins RB Silas Redd's knee injury is season ending. Coach Jay Gruden alluded to this following Thursday night's preseason game, suggesting the Redskins feared Redd had a torn ACL and MCL. It sounds like that diagnosis was on point. Wow that was a pretty bad pre-season opener as far as injuries go. I'm almost scared to watch the rest... I could imagine how mentally tough these guys are, to keep that doubt and fear out of their mind in games that don't matter for you as much as someone fighting to make the (a) roster spot

Trey Williams - RB - Redskins ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim said GM Scot McCloughan "really likes" rookie RB Trey Williams. Williams is currently fourth on the depth chart, but he could certainly jump perennially injured and disappointing Chris Thompson for a change of pace role.
