Oh no............is this a Danny move or a Scot move?

Redskins to host Junior Galette on Thursday
The Redskins will host OLB Junior Galette for a free agent visit on Thursday.
Released by the Saints late last week, Galette has a checkered off-field history and has seemingly gone off the deep end recently, if his social media actions are to be taken seriously. Still, he is a 27-year-old coming off a ten-sack season and offers big-time on-field value. In Washington, Galette would provide an explosive bookend to Ryan Kerrigan. At the moment, Trent Murphy and second-round pick Preston Smith are competing for that role.

Don't be so quick with the "oh no" stuff. 27 year old proven pass rusher who fell out of favor with the Saints who could be brought in at a VERY favorable salary. Skins are reportedly his first choice too for some reason. I know he's had some off field issues, but it doesn't sound like he's Greg Hardy.

If SM judges this move worth the risk, do it!!!

I know that Snyder has been involved with making terrible decisions regarding players & coaches but let's hope that that has stopped for now

If this franchise is not under the complete control and guidance of football people it does not matter who coaches or plays here

that being said - I'm with riggofan - if the coaches and FO think he's worth a look they know a whole lot more about things than we do
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

that's what I mean.... if SM is pulling the strings, then cool.
If the pressure comes from Danny, then SM should just slap the crap out of Danny.

Let the football peeps do the vetting. No question about Gallette's talent but if he is a NUT CASE...........fuggetaboutit

Gotcha. I think we're all hoping that's the case, and McCloughan is in full control of those decisions. Just so hard to know for sure with this team, yeah?

From the Post today:
Galette became available after what was perceived as an abrupt divorce from the New Orleans Saints, who just last season signed him to a $41 million contract extension.

Galette fell out of favor with team management last season, and the situation worsened this offseason thanks to two off-field incidents. In January, Galette was arrested for allegedly injuring a woman while trying to force her to leave his home. Those charges later were dismissed. Then in June, a video from 2013 surfaced, which depicted a man, believed to be Galette, hitting a woman with a belt during a group fracas. Galette’s attorney has denied that his client was involved, but an investigation by the league remains ongoing.

Some members of the organization — after speaking to people familiar with Galette — believe the risk would be minimal because of the leadership core already in place. The Redskins also view the financial aspect as favorable to them because commitment to Galette would be minimal since the Saints remain on the hook for the guaranteed portion of his salary.

Maybe Junior is friends with Ricky Jean Francois? If not, they can get to know each other..........both of Haitian origin.
Oh, and Pierre Garcon too.

Could be. I'm not really sure why the Skins would be high on his list. Some good info in Keim's piece today:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/ ... e-redskins

The Redskins have been seeking to improve their pass rush, and there's little doubt that Galette would help them do that. They have two unproven pass-rushers on the right side in second-year Trent Murphy and rookie Preston Smith. They view the latter as the guy who will eventually start, barring another addition to the spot. Murphy is seen more as a backup. And even after drafting Smith in the second round, the Redskins still wanted to add a pass-rusher.

"Galette's passion and exuberance for playing the game is hard to criticize -- it was downright inspiring at times. And he had developed into one of the game’s top pass rushers with 22 sacks over the past two seasons, using a relentless motor and an unconventional mix of moves that drove offensive tackles nuts at the line of scrimmage. But Galette couldn't shake the maturity and character issues that got him kicked out of Temple in college."

But Galette won the Saints' media good-guy award two years ago -- and he didn't seem to be disliked by his teammates last year.

Galette is considered a passionate player, which is something the Redskins -- and most teams -- could use. That passion could have been at the center of his release, causing him to say or do things the Saints did not like.

If the Redskins sign him to a one-year deal, some think he'd be on his best behavior because he might be either humbled or desperate to prove everyone wrong and restore his reputation. That's what the Redskins would have to hope for.

Thoughts?

Junior Galette's meeting will take place this evening, source says. He'd prefer to sign with Washington. Feels it's a good fit.

Pot Roast is a former college teammate.

Here's what Knighton had to say about Galette: "He's a great guy. He's all about football. He got caught up now in a few things off the field. Sometimes with guys you never know the real story, but being in the business we're in and with all the things that's going on with domestic violence, the league has zero tolerance for it, which they should. He caught a bad break. Sometimes guys just react out of human nature instead of thinking about the big picture. He's a great player. He has a great passion for the sport."

Again, that passion can help and hurt. “Definitely,” Knighton said. “That's what hurt him. He has a lot of pride. He has a big heart and loves the game. Hopefully he's here. I talked to him a little bit and he'd definitely be a great addition to our defense. I wouldn't mind taking on the challenge of helping him get on the right path.”

Hopefully we get Galette, and his relationship with Pot Roast can yield the same benefits the Cardinals experienced with the Honey Badger and Peterson. We just better make sure Pot Roast is around more than one year if we give Galette more than one year. Maybe we can get Galette for a couple years like those other guys did with Hardy and have every out clause in the book should he go astray.

Yes, exactly. They will do their due diligence. I know we're not used to the idea of a competent personnel guy evaluating risk and making the right call, people, but try to relax and let McCloughan work the plan!

I think it is going to be hard to pass this guy up. If you have someone (Pot Roast) who is willling to look out for him and if it makes your team better, you have to sign him.

Good move

I understand that it's not clear that he's the guy in the video showing someone hitting people with a belt ...

anyone want to bet that NY will clarify that it is him now that he's signed with us
