Re: Boswell: Skins To Be Bad For Several More Years
I'm less pessimistic than many here because while we were outscored by 8.6 pts./game, we were +1.6 yds./game. We need to improve turnovers & ST as well as making plays in the clutch to become average. I think improvement in these areas is more doable than major changes in ypg.

In all honesty we could be a playoff team next year.
Seriously the upgrades to the defense will help this team out tremendously. Teams are going to have a tough time running the ball against us. I am assuming our Dline with the addition of T. Knighton will be stout. We already have a very solid core of linebackers. Scott also brought in help for the secondary in Goldson and we had talent at the corner back position already as well. I believe Amerson and the other young fella I forgot his name(yikes!) will play a whole lot better within a new scheme.
Yes it takes time for a team to build chemistry and learn a new system. However it wont be too much of a stretch to think this defense can play solid with veterans such as Knighton on the Dline, Kerrigan linebackers and Goldson in the secondary. They will all lead the way.
Offense all we really needed was good QB play and the Oline to give our QB more time. Both the Oline and Qb play was bad last year. It usually goes hand in hand when you have bad Qb play most of the time you will also have bad Oline play.
We have a stud RB in Alf a struggling but talented QB in RG3. We just drafted the best tackle in the draft to shore up the right side. We already had the best left tackle in the game. The interior of line is usually easier to fix then the bookends. Our receivers are talented as we all know. So we werent missing much. We could probably use a big target at the WR position but that can be fixed if Jordan Reed can stay healthy as we can use our TE for a big target.
So how many weaknesses do we really have left? If our draft picks and free agents pan out. We have a solid group as it stands.
Now I just want to compare our team to our division rivals. Since the pukes won the division they are probably the best team on paper pre season. However those pukes let Demarco walk after leading the league in rushing? That has to hurt them. I see no way that they match the production they got from Murray last year. Their defense is ok they might improve drastically after the draft they had. I actually like the players they chose on the defensive side. So I expect a battle between us and Ttit for the division title.
The Giants were probably in worse shape then us. Their defense I cant really think of any good players other then J.P.P? The offense is solid but the Oline needs help big time. So I dont think they will be contending.
The Eagles?? Man those smeagols and the crazy Chipper. How do you let go of virtually all your starters on offense who previously took you to the playoffs?

^^ I agree with you that we could be a playoff contender next year - we certainly need to give our O line a season and while our run defense should be solid we still need to give our secondary some more time
I'm looking for improvement this season and then with a little more in 2016 we should be showing a product on the field in 2017 that can play consistently tough football

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
