Reed vs. Polamalu

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Reed vs. Polamalu

Post by fabe »

Now that both Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu have retired from the NFL, when the time comes to elect one of these legendary safeties into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, who do you think is more likely to make it on the first ballot?

I like them both, and am especially a big fan of Polamalu, but I have a feeling that they will give Ed Reed the nod.

I vote for #21 Sean Taylor (posthumously)

I expect they will both be first ballot... both deserve it.

ST would have been the first player inducted while still playing, btw... (my bold statement for the day)

I agree. Both will get in first ballot. Both have legendary careers.

I think stat wise Reed wins. But clutch wise Polamalu is all over Reed. When the Steelers needed a big play it was Polamalus time to shine. That clutch interception which was called back against Indy and Peyton turned the momentum towards the Steelers. Interception against the Ravens to send the Steelers on to the next round. Clutch sacks in the fourth quarter.

Reed was great. But it was Ray Lewis who was the obvious leader on the Ravens. Whereas Troy was clearly the heart and soul of the Steelers defense. Even so Reed made some huge plays in his career and played especially well against Tom Brady whereas Troy struggled against Tom Brady and the Pats.

Both will get in no doubt. Plus I believe Reed was the FS and Troy a SS which have two different roles.

Both deserve HOF. Palamalu had a higher profile.

Every above average player gets in on the first ballot now unless they wore a Redskins uniform. Then they get in on the Senior Committee vote, if at all. Frankly, I think both Reed and Polamalu are highly over-rated but I witnessed Ken Houston and Sean Taylor so it's more than just a thought.

Reed is faaaaaaaaaaaaaar more deserving of it than Polamalu. Not taking anything away from the brother but there's no comparison to be honest.
