Re: Chester on his way out
not really a surprise - we're going to see everyone but Trent be replaced as starters and I'm sure the younger guys will be kept as back-ups
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

This is no great insight. Eventually, even Trent will be replaced.

Re: Chester on his way out
No disrespect to Chris Chester. Didn't have a great year last year, but seems by all accounts to have been a classy, professional guy. I'm just excited if this means we're moving forward with one of the young guys. Spencer Long most likely?
I see Tracy Porter has been released today too.

This was obviously going to happen this year or next. I assumed it would be by the end of training camp this year, but the fact that they feel comfortable doing it now speaks well of the talent we've brought in.

^^ true dat - but there are a number of offensive linemen that were here that will not be here in a year or 2 - Trent will stay for a while

Yeah that's what I'm hoping. They didn't need to make the move for cap reasons as far as I can tell, so letting him go now does look like a good sign.

2 have already been replaced (Compton & Chester). I wouldn't be surprised to see Lauvao replaced after the bye.

Chester is a Falcon now. Reunited with Shanny the younger.

Nothing short of replacing Trent Williams would surprise me at this point, but I doubt that we'll see Lauvao go. This is something of a "prove it" year for him, but right now it's not even clear who it will be that can replace Chester, let alone another starting guard. Still, he's big and strong and might benefit from our switch to more of a power-run scheme.
Unfortunately I don't think LeReibus has it in him. Spencer Long is a question mark, though promising, and it's pretty obvious the team is thinking Kouandijo has potential. Morgan Moses is going to have to find a place somewhere, but it's not clear that he's poised to start as a guard this year.
Having a couple of these young guys surge to the point where we can't help but start them would be a nice "problem" to have, but I'm afraid it's mostly wishful thinking at this point. We'll be lucky if one of them turns into a legit starter this year.
Re: Chester on his way out
Remaking the offensive line and having quality depth is the plan - this process will take more than 1 season and 1 draft especially when you consider everyone (except Williams) is not suited to what type of offense Gruden and Scot want to have in play here - We'll be lucky if we begin 2017 season with a really good offensive line with good depth - we need 4 starters and at least 3 good back ups
we have made a good start and maybe some of the players here can find a way to show that they deserve a spot but, the fact is, adding the players is hard enough, then you have to have them play together to form a solid unit - this takes the most time
one of the good things about only winning 6 or 7 games this season would be that we can possibly add another guy like Scherff
That was a great addition at the 5 spot and all those here that think it was not a great pick are going to be amazed at how good this kid is

Cutting Chester tells me that someone is ready to start at RG,most likely Long. That leaves Ari, LeRib & possibly Moses to compete with Lauao at LG. I agree that the odds on any one of them getting to the point of starting this year aren't that good (let's say 1/3) , but the odds of 1 of the 3 being ready is pretty good. if each has a 1/3 chance, the odds that 1 of the 3 will make it is about 70%. I'm just throwing the 1/3 out there to make a point about statistics.

Moses is going to be working hard just to secure a roster spot, and he's most likely a backup tackle. (Talk of shifting him to guard only indicates that he's not as good as we were hoping.) At any rate, he's coming off a serious injury and so will be playing catch-up throughout August. Maybe he surprises us, but if he did I would see it as just that, a surprise, not something that could have been expected.
I've said before and will say again that LeReibus has done very little to merit anything. If he was really starting material, he wouldn't have had trouble just making the roster two years in a row. The weight gain is an excuse for one year's poor performance, but I fail to see how 30 extra pounds in 2013 should by itself mean he wasn't competitive in 2014. There's more going on there.
In my opinion, neither of those guys has any real chance of unseating Lauvao. You must be really down on the guy to think they do.
Kouandijo . . . maybe we could say he has a 1/3 chance of pushing for a starting position by the bye week. I still find that optimistic, but perhaps Lauvao just bombs this year and forces the issue. It seems to me that it would take something like that, or perhaps Kouandijo is just a really fast learner. But there's a reason he was taken in the fourth round and not the second . . .
