Let's put it all together here. Truth and Fiction all together now......
Dante Fowler is in play.
Report: Skins planning to take Dante Fowler NBC4's Dianna Marie Russini has been told the Redskins are "planning and hoping" to take Florida OLB Dante Fowler at No. 5 overall. It's widely been assumed the Redskins and new GM Scot McCloughan want to trade back. But they also want an edge rusher to complement Ryan Kerrigan, and don't want to miss out on both Fowler and Clemson's Vic Beasley. SI's Peter King also said Monday he can't see the Redskins passing on Fowler at No. 5.
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
If Fowler is there, he would be a wise choice. If he is not there, I would prefer Cooper over Beasley, assuming both are available. I just think Cooper is more of a sure thing. Beasley seems a little undersized for me and did not produce enough when in college.
Even if they don't want him, its a good idea to put this out there!

I'd rather have Beasley personally. Hopefully somebody takes Fowler. At least with Beasley you KNOW he can do one thing well. With Fowler I just don't know. I don't see how you can project someone who couldn't get double digit sacks in college to even get more than 4 or 5 in the NFL. Whether its through speed or power(Kerrigan), your pass rush abilities should show through in SOME fashion in college, and that's just not the case with Fowler at all. I think they'll take Fowler because most of the decision makers are smash mouth type of guys, but I don't see Fowler being a dominant pass rusher at all.

I'd really like to trade down for multiple picks because we have so many holes but I'm glad Scot is probably driving this although with Snyder I am always concerned Dan may try to make a masterstroke move and screw us up again.
It sucks for the kid, but I kind of think La'el Collins might be available at our pick in the second if he falls the way the buzz has him falling due to his being questioned re: the death of his former girlfriend (note: NOT A SUSPECT). He'd be an immediate pencil in at RT or if for some reason not there, then at RG.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

"Irn-Bru"... Gaelic for "Ye of little faith"...

His agents wants him OUT of the draft...........asap asking to be in Supplemental Draft instead (but I don't get it.........why). If some team wants him that badly, then he should stay in the draft.
the players and their agent have ZERO say in what happens in the draft - especially the agents
this kid is getting drafted ... hopefully today ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

hah. I don't think you grasp the situation he is in. This kid was going to be a first round pick tonight. Now teams aren't sure if he's under suspicion of murdering a pregnant woman or not. He could go completely undrafted.
The supplemental draft was a better option for him at this point. It would happen after he's hopefully cleared things up with the police. And teams could decide to still use a first round or second round pick on him.
Gotta say btw if he's there in the fourth or fifth round this weekend, I'd probably roll the dice on him. Maybe even the third!

You guys may be willing to roll the dice, but Scot definitely will not. He is dead set against bringing someone like that in, even the pot stuff with couple of the other guys may scare him off.

Just learned about this story. Unreal.
I'd bet he gets drafted this weekend. His agent is going to be very busy fielding calls from teams to explain things.

Aside from the tragedy of the situation, it's also a really interesting case. I can't think of any comparable scenario in modern sports. The NFL's response was basically, we've never seen anything like this before, but you are automatically eligible to be drafted and there's no way we can set a precedent where we changed someone's status ad hoc to protect his fluctuating value to teams. I can't say I disagree with the league on this one.

I fully understand - sucks to be him, however the rules are clear, if you are eligible, you are in the draft
it's very clear the better option for him is to wait but that is not an option - the agent needs to suck it up

Hey, I'm definitely up for Cooper. Maybe White too (just seems like he carries some extra risk).

CT, we've got a heretic!!!
While I've always wondered about that Darth guy , I'd be disappointed if they didn't look for someone to drastically OVERPAY for that 5th pick if either Williams, Mariotta or (gasp) Winston are still there... I don't think they'll pull the trigger on a trade unless they get excellent value... and if any of those 3 are on the board, they will try to get a Ditka quality trade...

OK, so the draft starts in 50 minutes. It's what, 10 minutes per pick? Teams usually use up just about all of their time, so does that put the announcement of our pick (or trade) between 8:45 and 9:00 or so?

Sounds about right. At first I thought it was 15 minutes. But that's too long. It's scheduled 8-11:30. So 32 teams divided by 2.5 hours is 12.8.
