Browns offer two first-rounders for No. 2 pick
ESPN Browns reporter Pat McManamon reports Cleveland is offering two first-round picks to the Titans for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft.
The Browns would obviously select Oregon QB Marcus Mariota at No. 2. That's highly unlikely to get it done, but it's a start. Cleveland holds the Nos. 12 and 19 picks on Thursday night. They'd probably have to kick in another future first-round pick and possibly even more on top of it. With the draft set to kick off in roughly 30 hours, the wheels are turning. We'd guess no trade for the No. 2 pick will be signed off on until the Bucs announce who they're taking at No. 1.

I love the games that are played at this time of year!

and the real value to a franchise is mostly from the players that are drafted later

Scot has a plan - I hope the guys he inherited (talent evaluators and scouts) step up for him here in a big way

While true, I don't think it matters... Scot was doing nothing but evaluating college talent last season... The staff can only add to what he already knows... I doubt that any GM has a better handle on the available players than him, at this point.

^^ thanks for that - he's also had some time with these guys and while he did not bring them in they must know what he's looking for

this is still going to be a stressful time for those guys though as well
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I really hope the Titans get called on their bluff. if they are that active in trade talks, then they dont want Mariota anyway. So why would any team trade more to them when they can trade less to us at #5. We all know the Jets will take him at #6, so if he does fall, we hold a ton of leverage on any team interested.

Scots a smart guy. Anything that we take be sure that itll be great value for us, and he feels reallybgood about who he can get with the picks he gets.

I'm sure he has a plan for every conceivable contingency... and he will milk every ounce of value from #5, no matter what happens.

When Scot was scouting out players before the Redskins hired him as the GM, apparently 12 teams hired him to scout players. One being the Redskins. I remember reading that in January. But..I'm sure he created more info this winter and spring.

Also itll be interesting to see, is Scot looking for an extra top pick or 2, a few mid round picks this year, more picks for next year, or some combo of those.

TRUE DAT - and these 'games' are being played at all levels to try and influence teams at the top to make a 'mistake' ...

I heard one of the radio guys this morning say that one team had told him they only had first round grades on sixteen players this year. Thought that was interesting.

I kind of think we'll get to #5 and have Williams, Fowler or Cooper on the board. I could see Scot trading back just a few spots to a team like Atlanta then to pick up an extra pick and still get one of those top guys.

Williams is the only player that we really want at 5 - if he's there, he's a Redskin - all the others are hopefully worth a lot to some other team

I'm not sure I agree with that, SJ. I would have completely agreed before McGloughan's press conference the other day. He nearly flat out said he'd be willing to deal if Williams is there at #5.

So, along the "games being played" line of though, knowing how respected Scot is as a player evaluator, what are the chances that "16 players" leak was deliberate to artificially increase the value of that #5 pick? There will certainly be some owners whom may wish to move up, based on Scot's professional assessment...

He's a smart guy... I suspect he's willing to deal no matter who is available... But, the price would have to be right. If someone wants him, they will need to over pay, and probably would have to win a bidding war, as well. Scot owns the cards, here.

agreed - Williams and Mariotta would be huge bargaining chips - I just think they keep Williams unless the trade is stupid

I will say one more thing about this. If you're secretly hoping Williams will fall to you at #5, the best move is to do what he just did and let teams know you would be willing to trade down there. You definitely don't want to encourage anybody to trade above with the Jags or Raiders to get him.

I will add this - anything can happen here - the teams that are drafting above us have not been good at what they do for years

we are (hopefully) no longer being managed by the same people that caused us to be stupid in the past drafts

I am very hopeful for the future of this franchise under Scot's guidance
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
