Browns reportedly willing to move up.

Obviously no telling how true this is, but the browns seem to be willing to deal pick 12 and 18 to get Mariota.

This would be great for us as we could likely get Sherff at 12 and a good receiver or OLB at 18

Yeah, that'd be a great deal for us. Could make up for the fact that we haven't had a 1st round pick for the past two years.

I would love this too... but there are too many players and agents doing STOOOOPID things right now to know what the heck the heck will be done with the #1 pick... and that will change EVERYTHING.

That would be an amazing trade! But I'm not confident Mariota will be available at 5

Right. I hear the Bolts might want to trade up for Marcus and trade Rivers as a package deal.

I wouldnt take a trade back plus rivers thats for sure. No more twilight years of their career players for us... especially not at QB.

Wonder if we could get sherff and flowers at 12 and 18....

that is possible but the Redskins would not be a part of that
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I could see the bucs willing to make that trade with a 2nd this year and a 1st or 2nd next year thrown in. Wouldnt be a terrible deal for either team.

I wouldn't exactly call Rivers a twilight years player.

the only way that a franchise would bring in Rivers is if they thought they were not far away from being competitive - we are not close

That Rivers rumor has to do with the Chargers sending him to the Titans for the #2 pick. Whisenhunt was his OC in San Diego. I don't think there is much speculation about that trade happening with Tampa or Washington or anyone else.

This.

It sure would. If CLE were stupid enough to make that trade, anyone in the league would take it. And if there is any one target a team would be willing to give away 450 draft points for, it'd be a QB.

That beings said, I doubt Mariota is available at #5. I see TN taking him or another team trading up. In either case, that would be nice if it resulted in Williams being available at #5 (although I still don't see how Jacksonville or OAK don't draft him, despite what Fowler says).

As far as the Rivers rumor --- I agree that he is 33 years old, so he's got about 5 left in him. I don't see us making that move as we need to fill in so much talent (I also see TN being in the same position). Personally, I see a team like HOU being the best fit..... and I consider Rivers worth about a mid-1st, nothing much more.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Well, I disagree on both counts - the "only reason" one and the us not being close to being competitive one.

I think a guy like Rivers would instantly make our OL look like much better pass blockers and instantly make our receivers think they might be getting the ball as they come out of their breaks.

But I don't want to get too far off topic.

That's my point. Marcus is likely GONE at #2 regardless (to Titans, Bolts or other) and Skins pick at #5 is still ours to deal with.

IF we’re talking about trading the 5th pick with Mariota still on the board there is NO WAY I’m doing that.
With the value that’s placed on a franchise QB (which is what he’ll be considered if he goes that high) you want me to move back 7 spots and only give me another pick?? Have we forgotten what we gave up for our “Fanchise QB” to move up 4 spots !! Sorry but I’m going to need at least another pick 2nd round our higher!!

Agree. I want DRAFT value... I want two firsts...minimum... If the player is Mariota. Two this year... Or one this year, a 3 this year AND a one next year. I don't have to move... And, I think the Jets would be happy to have him fall into their laps.

me too - however there's no way Mariotta falls to #5 but stranger things have happened on draft day with top 10 picks

All it takes is for Tenn to have a player higher on their board. Very plausible that Williams, Cooper, or Fowler is. Oakland and Jax wont take him.... which leaves us at 5.

Only a couple more weeks to wait!

Too right mate. Realistically there is a 50/50 chance Mariotta will be available at 5. Now will Was get a worthwhile deal? Do teams really value him that much? That is the real question?

there's a better chance of Mariotta making it to #5 than Williams or Winston, so that means he only needs to fall 2 more spots ...

IF a franchise wants him, that's going to help but if not ... he's got to be some place on Scot's top 5 BPA

now that would be pretty amazing .....
