Your draft board at #5

Post by Prowl33 »

So pretty much any player could be available at 5. What do your top 4 look like, and with your 5th option put your pick if we trade back to any spot.

1) Leonard Williams
2) Dante Fowler
3) Randy Gregory
4) Kevin White
(Trade back pick)
5) Brandon Sherff

So neither QB goes 1-4? Not very likely.

I think he's talking about the REDSKINS draft board. Not predicting the top five picks in the draft. i.e. Who are your top five picks for the Skins if you are sitting there at #5?

Who is Gregory Williams though? Are you talking about Randy Gregory?

My board probably looks like this:

1. DT Leonard Williams
2. QB Jameis Winston
3. OLB Vic Beasley
4. WR Amari Cooper
5. DE Dante Fowler

If we trade later in the first I'm assuming those guys are gone and my board would be:

1. OT La'el Collins
2. DT Danny Shelton
3. OT Brandon Scherff
4. S Landon Collins
5. WR Kevin White

Fun exercise btw. There's not a player in there that I wouldn't be happy to see the team draft. Although drafting Jameis Winston would be a FREAKING CIRCUS.

Oh, I get it now. #-o
vvvv This looks pretty good, but I might switch 1 and 2.

It certainly would, not to mention we would have to get rid of one of the three QBs we already have on the roster (no team is going to carry four), and RGIII would be the only one where moving him would calm the storm. Still there'd be pressure for Winston to start immediately.

Yeah I can't imagine any scenario where Winston is available at #5, so I'm not going to go down THAT rabbit hole. lol. He's on my top five players list though, so if he was miraculously there at #5 I would take him and figure it out from there.

Interesting seeing cooper so high and winston on some of these lists. Not that I disagree, just interesting to see. First draft in a LONG time we have no clue who we will take in the 1st

Only since before the RGIII trade. Before that, it depended on who the teams in front of us picked like it does this year. If Winston falls to us at #5, we probably have to take him, unless Williams is at the top of Scot's list.

But even before RG3 it was a safe bet we would draft for need so you can narrow the list to a couple of guys that may be available. Drafting like we used to right now we wouldnt look at white or cooper, winston and mariota would be out cause danny was in charge, williams may even of been off the list with the off season FA moves. So bssically it would be whoever the most hyped OLB was.

But it's still dependent on what happens before we pick. Even if you knew what position we were targeting, it wouldn't matter if those players were off the board when we picked.

I would like to see the alternate universe where both Williams and Winston make it to #5!

That was my point. But if one of those falls to five, then we would have to take them, even though it's not predictable.

Nobody is predicting that both Winston and Williams would fall to #5. If you're picking at #5, you list your top five players and pick whichever one is there when your turn rolls around. Because math.

He'd pretty much have to be the reincarnation of Jim Brown for me to take a RB in the top 10 of the draft these days.

Winston is too risky given his off field issues. Same with Gregory. We cannot afford to miss with this pick. I don't think there is an OL worth a top 5 in this class.

Totally agree. I have Winston in my top 5 players just based on his ability, looks like a likely franchise QB to me, and the fact that other teams like the Bucs seem prepared to draft him that high. I'm assuming that means they've done their homework on his "off the field issues". If the Redskins have any serious reservations about his character, I wouldn't want them to take him.

I think that about wraps it up. And even for a talent like AP, spending a pick that high would still feel like a big risk.

I might have suggested LeSean McCoy a year ago, and would look like a fool now because of it.

This is a good point. I just read that story that came out about how his own agent doesn't think he's prepared for independent manhood yet. Sheesh.

I guess I'd have to substitute someone for Winston in my top five. I also read a couple of articles that have me frowning on Fowler. A new ranking for me might be:

(1) Leonard Williams
(2) Vic Beasley
(3) Amari Cooper
(4) Randy Gregory (I know, I know . . .)
(5) Trade back and look for:
- Brandon Scherff
- Trae Waynes
- Danny Shelton
- Bud Dupree
