Count, the Rams also said someone offered them a 1st round pick for Bradford (likely the same team that did the eagles) so im sure its valid.

I disagree - I think there's a lot of misleading stuff being 'released' at this time
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

They apparently like Leonard Williams a lot (which isn't crazy at all). Jake Locker played what? Six games last year? He was hardly their "starting QB". It was assumed he was on his way out, not like they were banking on him before he retired. And they have Mettenberger who looked decent last year as a rookie.
The could take him if he blows them away in his private workout, but I just don't see Locker's retirement as having much bearing on this.
By this logic, wouldn't we then be best served to trade out of the spot if he is available @ #5 and acquire more picks??
I don't know that the Titans have anything to do with what's in our best interests. But I definitely agree the Redskins should trade out of #5 if possible. No matter how good Mariota is, I personally think our team would be better served to be able to pick two or three players via a trade than just Mariota by himself.cowboykillerzRGiii wrote:I mean if he cant impress the Titans brass enough to pull the trigger- that they'd rather roll with some project qbs (at best) instead; doesn't that mean he isn't the savior WE need either?
I'm not making any case that Mariota is a savior or the player we need. I'm saying I don't think its remotely a lock that the Titans want him.
Thought it was funny that you called Mettenberger a "project QB". He played as many games last year as either Cousins or RGIII. Care to guess how his numbers/results compared?cowboykillerzRGiii wrote:Im all for the next Brady.. or Luck. Right now we have two project qbs who have both shown glimpses of excellence, as well as stunk up the place. IMO we cant draft another qb high unless he is for sure 100% better then the guys we have. Neither of the top qbs in this draft have shown me that they are.
I don't disagree with that other than your "both have shown glimpses of excellence". lol. Matt Flynn showed "glimpses of excellence". WTF does that matter? We need glimpses of consistency.
Since you have been dissecting all of my posts lately (no harm done there) ill elaborate for ya.. please know I post 100% of the time *from my phone, so I generally am on the go- and I cant get cute w my quotes- well done!
1. My point was that if the Titans ellect to pass on him I dont know what we'd see in him that they didn't. I dont see their qb situation as any better then ours, and in fact think we have more of a possibility that one of our guys can turn the corner sooner then either of theirs.
2. I think I elluded to both of our teams having hopes in our current qbs all of which have flaws to work on.. but all of which are at least one season experienced in their respective systems, and will be ahead of any of the rookie qbs available come game day. I could care less about last years stats.. who were they facing? I know Cousins benefited from a healthier line then Robert, aswell as not facing as tough of a pass rush; apples to oranges. Mettenberger looked serviceable at times for a rook for sure-
3. Matt Flynn played lights out in a superior system with receivers running free in ONE GAME, LMMFAO!!! Rg3 at least gave us a full season of glory, a divisional crown, galloping gobbler award, records galore, Rookie Of the Year, and a playoff birth... Cousins put together a couple good games (more then Flynn can say) but generally falls on his face during crunch time.
I can definitely wholeheartedly agree about needing consistency. . I think both qbs play will be DRASTICALLY elevated with better pass protection= more time to make a decision- Roberts sacks will decrease as well as his scrambles (hopefully) and Cousins quick trigger wont find LBs or the dirt as much (hopefully).
Bottom line- why start over when we have a poor line and secondary to address? I dont see Mariota- being behind the eightball in the learning of the system and more importantly adjusting to the NFL speed- as a great route to enbark on. Furthermore I don't think he is top 5 talent, albiet one of the top qbs in the draft, I personally don't believe he is BPA @ #5.

I don't either. You're arguing against a straw man. I'll say it one last time, slowly: I just don't believe its any kind of a lock that the Titans are likely to draft him at #2. There's at least a 50/50 chance that he will be there at #5.

I don't think Mariota falls to #5 but I think it's great that many do think that may happen ...
there's no doubt that the speculation is great for the Redskins ... I'd love for Philly/Kelly to make another stupid decision to get him
I understand that we could get him but I really think they'll be working on other areas first ...
I'm not sure Griffin is going to be as good as we hoped but nobody (with any sense) really knows that yet

You over analyzed my post.. made it a point to remark on each thought.. threw out useless bs (like Flynn) attempting to prove what ever point you were arguing... then try to act like your schooling me on something?? Not sure what your deal is man- I dont feel like this is even an argument. You clearly dont understand my post(s) so I clarified for you.
Did you REALLY say it slowly as you typed it?? Sorry, but I read it at normal speed..

I never said that the Titans will take him for sure (nothing is for sure yet), just brought up that it's a possibility. I also never said there is no way he isn't on the board @5; to the contrary I merely opined that we should seek a trade or select a top 5 talent not named Mariota if he is.
Sounds like you'd rather go on and on instead of just saying, ultimately, that you agree.

Just discussing and debating, man. No worries and no deal at all.

Did you read the piece about San Diego "maybe" wanting Mariota. Maybe they TRADE Rivers to the Skins plus some picks............for #5 and a shot a Mariota. Haha, stranger things have happened.

Yeah, but the speculation seems to be about San Diego trading Phillip Rivers to the Titans as part of a package to get him. Whisenhunt has worked with Rivers, and I think maybe the QB is on the last year of his deal in SD?

I'd love to get Rivers here. Then he could stick it to the VaGiants twice a year.

Nice.....vaGiants, that's a new one....LOL
Rivers is not willing to do a new contract which means he will walk after 2015 (maybe) but we never can tell.

Re: Skins will take Mariota at #5 per Clayton
any and all discussion about Mariota's draft position is good for the Redskins - I predict Mariota will not be available at #6
and
a number of players will be drafted in the top 10 that most analysts will think were a 'mistake' by that franchise
The Titans may even take Mariota in order to trade him
it's amazing how important the draft is at this time - years later we see that the NFL is made up of more players with not great draft 'ratings' than those that came out of college with really good draft prospects

Mariota dropping to #5 is silly imo. Someone will take gim or reach up- and take him and/or Winston.
