The fifth-year Hankerson never broke out in Washington, hampered by injuries and a constantly churning list of underwhelming names under center. He failed to catch a pass last season after missing the first nine games of the year with the torn ACL the wideout suffered late in 2013.
Hankerson's 6-foot-2, 211-pound frame gives coaches something to work with, but he won't be seen as more than a dose of depth behind Julio Jones and Roddy White. Look for the former University of Miami star to compete for snaps with Devin Hester and whomever else the Falcons import between now and camp.
A third-round pick in 2011, Hankerson showed promise before the knee injury struck. The Falcons are banking on the young receiver climbing back on track come September.

If he can stay healthy he will have all the opportunity in the world. Roddy White is getting older and can't stay healthy either plus Kyle Shanahan is there in a pass happy system with a QB.
Just didn't make sense to re-sign him to play 4th WR (he's better than Roberts, however) and doesn't play special teams at all.

Yep, did he ever catch a ball cleanly, without juggling it a little bit first?
He came with a rep of very good hands (they are HUGE) and come his first opportunity, dropped a clean pass over the middle. I think this got into his head, and he started thinking too much, lost confidence, and just took forever to recover. You can't coach resilience...

I always thought Hankerson could have been really good if he'd stayed healthy. Its lucky for him that Kyle is in Atlanta and knows his potential. Not to mention getting to play in THAT group of receivers. Good luck kid!
