Chris Culliver signs- DeAngelo Hall to safety?

We have been entertaining the notion for a couple seasons. Now with the signing of CB Chris Culliver to play alongside Breeland, it could be time to focus on shoring up FS for a year or two with a talented, experienced ball hawk in Hall.

Thoughts?

My only question... In light of Hall's history of some risk taking, can he adjust to playing centerfield? My gut says yes, but... It is D. Hall we are talking about!

I think this would be a natural move. Hes aging a bit... he wont have yo back pedal as much (Achilles injury) and he has a good eye for the qb and instinct in coverage. Moving hall to FS, signing a SS, and having Cullivan and Breeland start with Amerson rotating in will be a vast upgrade over last season.

This is another great move by the Skins. Now they have solid corners for a few years to come, so now D Hall can be the ball hawk that we know he can be. This defense is shaping up nicely!.

And by "we" you mean "we fans".

I don't know man. I've heard people talking about this D Hall to safety thing forever. Has anybody actually seen or heard any indication that the team is looking to make a move like that?

Not to mention, I'm more curious to see if D Hall can actually run well anytime soon, much less start switching positions.

Yes... Hall has said that it's been discussed... And that he'd love to do it. In fact, he believes he will be a real threat to opponents passing game as the FS. I'll try to find the quote...

But Hall also has discussed an openness to making a switch to free safety at some point in his career. Ryan Clark is not expected to return to Washington, and with only two unproven strong safeties (Phillip Thomas and Akeem Davis) under contract, the possibility remains that Hall could make a position change.

He has worked at free safety off and on during offseason practices in the last three years, and he occasionally shifted back to that spot in games in 2012 and 2013.

Hall once said that he sees a role similar to how the Packers used Charles Woodson – transitioning him from corner to safety, but moving him around the field with varying responsibilities depending on matchups – as the likely job for him during the latter stages of his career.
