Ed Sabol, the founder of NFL Films, died on Monday, according to multiple reports. He was 98.
Sabol founded Blair Motion Pictures in 1962 and was tasked with filming the 1962 NFL Championship Game between the Giants and the Packers as his first contract. The company became NFL Films in 1964 and received an exclusive deal to record NFL games on film.
Sabol remained with the company until his retirement in 1995. During Sabol's time at the company, NFL Films won 52 Emmy Awards. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
