How does Darrell Young keep getting snubbed for John Kuhn? Kuhn only had one touchdown this year, and DY had five! I swore that because I haven't heard anything from Kuhn this year, that DY would make his first Pro Bowl. I would've bet money on it. Smh, this is so ridiculous.
Also, congrats to Trent Williams for being the lone representative of Washington (again).
Aside from skill positions, the voting follows names recognition more than anything else. More people know who John Kuhn is than DY. (There are other fullbacks in the league who are better than Kuhn, too.)
Whenever you think a player was snubbed by the Pro Bowl voters, always remember that Jeff Saturday made it in a year when he was so bad that his own team benched him. Yet people remembered everyone saying how great he was years before when he was paired with Manning, so he got in.
I'd say that Kerrigan not making it is a borderline snub.
It's hard to think of any Redskins besides Williams and Kerrigan who were worth consideration. DY is certainly someone who comes to mind, but after that . . .
*Kerrigan and AlMo named as alternates at least... DY is the best FB in the bizz but outside of redskins nation he is shadowed by Al obviously, but more so Helu id guess. Like my homies know who Helu is... but when im shouting "feed DY the ROCK!!" - they donno :/

I thought about mentioning him, but . . . I think the fact that he's the best punter the Redskins have had in a generation is clouding my judgment. He's been very good but there are other punters in the league who can pin teams inside the 20, 10, or 5 yard line with greater frequency and consistency.
I like Tress a lot, though, and am happy he's here.

DeSean Jackson could've gotten in, but he would've had a better chance in the old Pro Bowl, where they would need a cetain number from each conference. The wide receiver list this year is stacked.

This is on coach. Had he been feeding DY in all those disastrous short yard and goal line situations, DY would have shown his penchant for first downs and touch downs, and would have been a shoo-in. I don't get it.

I went and looked up his sacks, and I'm changing this from "borderline" snub to just plain snub. I knew he was in the top five for sacks, but I didn't realize that his 5 forced fumbles led the league, too. Awesome work from Kerrigan this year.

One of the things I would change as NFL czar would be pro bowl voting.
I'd have DEs and OLBs voting for LTs and LTs voting for DEs and OLBs. I'd have DBs voting for WRs and WRs voting for DBs. Stuff like that. I don't need fans and writers gobbling up 2/3 of the votes while actual players who spend every week trying to beat LTs get about 2%-3% of the sayso.

He always led in TDs [for his position] every time that I voted for him for the Pro Bowl. I can't find a stat comparison between him and the other 31 fullbacks in the league. It's because he's still classified as RB when you're looking at stats.
But like I said in the original post, he has 5 TDs on the year (3 rushing; 2 receiving - http://www.nfl.com/player/darrelyoung/2507737/profile). There's no way that any other fullback has that because I'm sure that I would've heard about him by now.

That is an interesting idea, and I like it. However, I don't think that will happen because having the fans vote on it is probably a better idea in terms of getting people to watch it, which equals more money. Remember, Roger Goodell was considering doing away with the game a few years ago.

I've read that, but what stat are we talking about? Average distance? Net average? Punts downed inside the 20? 10? NFL.com's stats tell me he was tied for first in average distance but not near the top in any of the other categories.

#10 net average = 40.0
Not bad for a team that seems to block and cover poorly.

I really don't think you can hold the net against him, unless he had a very low hangtime or an inordinately high number of touchbacks. I think a 7.5 yard average return is pretty good for this team. Do the stats list which punter had the smallest difference between the gross and net yardages?

Heck - 40 net is terrific! I'm digging for some advanced stats.
We were 18th giving up 9.5 yards per return. Some touchbacks and fair catches must be helping the gross/net difference.
