Manziel - another overpaid Drunk (what a joke)

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Manziel - another overpaid Drunk (what a joke)

Post by tribeofjudah »

When will these kids ever learn? Didn't the Rookie Symposium do anything to teach them the right way to be a Pro?

J. Manziel 'committed to nightlife' as rookie
Citing nearly 20 Browns sources, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Pat McManamon report Johnny Manziel exhibited a "year-long pattern" of lacking commitment and preparation to football and a "continued commitment to nightlife" during his rookie year.
One player called Manziel a "100 percent joke." Team security reportedly found Manziel "drunk off his a--" the morning before the Browns' season finale. He was fined for missing a treatment for his injured hamstring and spent the Week 17 loss to Baltimore in Cleveland's locker room. During his first NFL start, "Several sources said Manziel either didn't know the plays in the huddle or didn't call them correctly." Sources also told Fowler and McManamon that since-departed OC Kyle Shanahan preferred Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Savage to Manziel as a 2014 draft prospect. Fowler and McManamon claim Manziel still has some "support in the (Browns') building," though it's mostly "on the business side."

Not exactly what you'd call a "character" guy. And I'm not talking about the drinking at all. Just no commitment to his "craft."

Dexter was a coke head but he was committed to his craft. I know this for a fact. I ran hills with him in the summer.

Stan Humphries was given the starting QB job in Washington early in 1991. Humphries remained heavily committed to the party life. Showed up over-weight and had not studied the playbook. Joe Gibbs said that Mark Rypien knew the plays better than Gibbs did. Humphries never played a down in 1991; when he was traded to the Chargers, he said he had learned a lesson. He worked, and took San Diego to the Super Bowl.

Manziel can choose to be Ryan Leaf or Stan Humphries. Will be interesting to watch.

I have a lot of respect for Kyle Shanahan. It was hard to understand how Kyle wasn't able to get Johnny ready to play, or at least do what he does well. Hearing that it was that bad makes sense.

Nice to have the Browns around. Misery loves company.

Manziel is in a rehab program now, hopefully this young man will straighten himself out before he ruins his life with substantial issues.

Cleveland wasted a first round pick on Manziel, but only 1 first round pick so even if he never plays another down they are only out 1 pick unlike the Skins who spent 4 picks on Griffin who may not have a substantial NFL career either. I don't consider playing high school style football until demolished late in his first NFL seasons a substantial career for a 3 first round, 1 second round pick.

Stan Humphries has an advantage that Manziel doesn't... he's actually a decent human being.

I see a locker room blow up in Johnny F's future.

That's IF he ever makes it back to a locker room.
