Just expanding this thought...
Whatever one might think of Bill Belichick as a man, he is one hell of a Head coach.

People tend to forget that there was a time when he SUCKED as a head coach... Couldn't even hold on to a job in CLEVELAND.

I have no idea if Barry will be effective... I'm just sayin'.

Right now Ziggy says there is a 23% chance this works.

I don't think Ziggy has a clue and I could care less what the media thinks ...

all that matters here is that Scot finds some players and Jay finds a way for his assistants to improve the product on the field ...

small steps at first ... but ... each journey begins with one step at a time

hopefully these guys get a few years to show how it can be done ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

By all accounts that's not true. Fangio was his first choice, but he didn't want to be in DC.

It was a joke, in other words.

 oh good - thanks for confirming that ziggy doesn't have a clue ...

and

I understand that Barry may not have been Jay's first choice ... IMO - If Fangio did not want to be here means we got a DC that will do a better job than someone that did not want to do it :)

it's all good

Agreed...I'm a DC on the HS level...we had a pretty good season this year...it wasn't because I became a better coach!!

How do we know Fangio was his first choice? We're all assuming that was the case, because they held out to talk to Fangio. For all we know though this was just due diligence.

As far as I know Fangio wasn't even offered the job. I think if he was definitively the first choice guy that Gruden really, really wanted they would have tried a little harder to make that happen. Don't you think?

I didnt like the move initially. But to be fair the linebackers in San Diego seemed to be the best unit and that was his unit. So maybe it can work afterall.

Seeing our DL getting pressure without help is something we are not used to... and even though they haven't produced sacks, they have provided pressure, and have carefully maintained gap discipline. That may change tomorrow. If Eli starts finding receivers, expect the wick to get turned up. Keep in mind... there is almost no film on the looks this team will show when blitzing... that will make it very tough for the Giants O-line.

This is a real possibility. Ostensibly, it looks like Barry is implementing some sort of cover two or umbrella to try to keep the secondary from being exposed deep. That's allowing the linebackers to drop into coverage and the safeties to stay deep. They haven't really been tested by a premier tight end or slot receiver yet (and, no, Tavon Austin doesn't count) so I'll be interested to see if the defense holds up after playing Dallas (Witten) and New England (Gronkowski).

He's bringing 3 to 5 guys. When bringing 5 he's playing man behind it with one safety free. The SS covers the TE.

My initial reaction to hiring Joe Barry was "oh my God, not him." Two games does not make a season but so far the defense has looked absolutely great. someone mentioned Haslett having to work through injured players. Bull, in the four years Haslet was here, he had one of the worst defensive units in the league each year. Good riddance to him.

Right now, the Redskins are looking better. But cautious optimism should be the word of the day. Yes, the division is a mess and the Redskins are probably as likely as any of the others to win the division.

Cautious optimism for sure, but it was addition by subtraction. We immediately improved no matter who we brought in. Just getting rid of Haslett made us instantly better. I never understood the people who tried defending him on this board. The guy has one of the worst track records in all of professional sports.
