Hognostication Playoffs 2015 - Hognosti-Bowl X

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Hognostication Playoffs 2015 - Hognosti-Bowl X

Post by Deadskins »

Well, the time for the big game is here. We have DarthMonk advancing past the top seed ACW. And while Deflate-Gate still swirls around *SkinsJock's squeaker over last season's winner, Deadskins, his claims of alien deflation rays fall on deaf ears. Seem the league is going to do nothing to rectify this controversy, so the game must go on. SJ* and Darth should PM their picks, and one I have both, and at least the point totals differ, I will post them here for all to see. In the interests of avoiding a tie, for this game only, I am going to allow partial point totals. Get your picks in early, please.

Whoever said the Deadman was a ____________________, this proves otherwise.

Don't know if you invented this format but it's great.

Will PM you soon.

the man with the * has sent in the pick
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I'm in too. Can't wait to see if teams are same and what points are.

I was thinking about the format and had a thought for the rounds prior to the Hognosti-bowl.

The visitor posts first. If his points prediction is EXACTLY what the home team was gonna post then the visitor has an edge. A fix would be to either let the home team take that point total and force the visitor to go over or under or make the visitor choose a point total with a 1/2 point in it in the first place.

Just a thought.

Love this format.

Good luck.

Cool. I was contemplating 46.9 thinking SJ might go with an under score but went with 47.1 instead. Come on 49 or fewer!!!

In looking at this game I went with the Patriots only because I like to pick the better QB ... Brady is a great QB

however

I think that Seattle could very easily win the game, because Wilson could have a really good game against a not so good defense

Seattle's defense is good but their offense might be more of a factor in this game ...

I went with 51 because I feel the Patriots will score 28 and maybe even 31

and if the Seahawks score 28 Brady will find a way to put points on the board

Scoring defense - NE 8 (19.7) & SEA 1 (16.5)
Scoring offense - NE 1 (30.7) & SEA 10 (24.9)
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I have similar thoughts.

PAT is very good at taking away what the opponent does best. I expect them to take away Lynch. They better. If they do they should be able to handle SEA's WRs, etc. with man coverage and be able to confuse Wilson at least as much as they did Luck. Seattle should score 20 or fewer.

The PAT offense is much more versatile than SEA's but SEA has a good/great defense. PAT only totaled 31 points the two times they played NYG in the Super Bowl. Those defenses probably had better pass rush than SEA does and this PAT team is more balanced than those PAT teams offensively. PAT should score 20 or more.

Turnover differential will be key.

If they played 17 times I'd give the edge to SEA at 9-8.

They play once and Belichik has had two weeks.

The SEA DBs match up better against bigger slower WRs than they do quick ones. Could be important.

The under/over opened at 48.5 and dropped due to heavy under betting by the "sharps" ... who are not always right. Not much could surprise me.

My dream ending has PAT trailing 24-17 and getting the ball with 4 minutes. They end up with 4th and goal from the 1 with 1 second on the clock and no time outs. They score on a "trick" play later deemed "controversial." They line up for the extrapoint to tie but SEA is offsides so early they never snap. The ball moves to the 1 and PAT runs a successful fake for the win (25-24) that is later deemed "controversial."

Total points are 49 and my tenth makes the difference.

Final prediction:

PAT 23, SEA 19

 OMG - I gave it about 5 minutes and went with the best QB ..
I felt that playing in Arizona would mean both teams would put some points up - if this were in NJ, I would have been a lot lower ...

I hope we see a good game .. I could care less about the outcome here ... the regular season is the real challenge

The Deadman is probably just going to add a * anyway

Just going with the better QB probably gives the correct team well over half the time. Makes sense.

Wilson had a better team than P. Manning. Eli pulled a few miracles. Brees had an onside kick - and maybe was better than P. Manning at the time. Rypien had a better team than Kelly - and was playing at least as well as Kelly at the time. Hostetler also had a better team than Kelly. Doug Williams had a better team than Elway. So did Simms.

In the rest, either the better QB won or it was pretty much a push as to who that was.

And Big Ben needed a Harrison return to end the half (and I'm still not sure Harrison wasn't down) and a fumble that I'm not sure was a fumble by Warner (oh, and don't forget the controversial officiating for Ben's first SB win).

Carroll should be fired or Wilson should be recognized for being big time STUPID - that was one of the worst calls EVER in a Super Bowl

and now a sea hawk is ejected .. how stupid are these guys

I LOVE IT ....

kind of nice for the Patriots to score 28 as predicted ...

thanks - what a great Super Bowl ....

I cannot believe Carroll did not let Lynch seal the deal - and if the rookie had just deflected that pass and not intercepted it ....

I hope that the media make a big deal about all the low life moments of this Super Bowl ... Baldwin should be getting a huge fine soon

Congrats!

I was a little pissed about the TD at the end of the first half. It may have cost me this title but, more important, it cost me at least 1/4 of a large cash pool.

I had the 4-7 square AND the 4-0 square. If Seattle either does not score or simply scores a FG at the end of the half, I win $$$$$$$$$.

;furious;

:explode:

I have not won one lucky square pool in my entire life. The streak continues.
