So how do you feel about this....? Licking your chops Redskins Nation...?
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora · 1h 1 hour ago So, if i'm a betting man, then get ready for Fangio and Donatell tel accept jobs with the Skins in the AM. The wait will only last so long
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora · 1h 1 hour ago I'd expect Vig Fangio and Ed Donatell to agree to join the Skins coaching staff by Tues AM. Would be very surprised if they did not

Been refreshing google last 2 days waiting for somethinh to break. Its hard to imagine someone turning down dannys money. Plus Fangio knows what its like to coach a team drafted by McCoughan
The longer this takes the more I am getting worried. Normally when Danny wants something he get's it. I wonder if the issue is money. How can a DC get more money than the HC? I think this might be the issue, I don't think Gruden is making the money Danny normally pays his Head Coaches and I wonder if there is some issue with Fangio making more than the actual Head Coach.....Thoughts anyone???
IMO - Dan Snyder is letting the guys (Bruce, Scot and Jay) be in charge of this ... Dan will pay, but they're making the call
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Im sure there are a few factors that need working out. Only other team he interviewed with was the bears and they dont pay their coaches near what we do. Its likely the term of contract, how much is garunteed, and figuring out donatels deal cause Fangio wants him as well.
Donatel would be d back coach, so then what do you do with Raheem? Is he gone? Can he coach linebackers? Would Fangio even want him? I would guess this is the major holdup.

Could be an issue but I wonder how many PLAYERS make more than Jay!
Hog Bowl III, V, X Champion (2011, 2013, 2018)
Hognostication Champion (2011, 2013, 2016)
Hognostibowl XII Champion (2017, 2018)
Scalp 'em, Swamp 'em, We will take 'em big score! Read 'em, Weep 'em Touchdown, We want heap more!

Gruden is basically tied for the 10th highest paid head coach. He has a five year contract rather than the four year some of the other coaches have, so his deal is better than most.
Don't get too excited about Fangio yet. From the reaction on Twitter last night, it seems like JLC was really just posting a prediction/guess.

The one thing they needed to do, they fail. There is no other DC out there short of Quinn in Seattle that could do anything with this sorry bunch over over paid under performing players. Well looks like we will be bottom feeders again in the NFC East. I swear I hate Daniel Snyder with a passion. I wish he would simply cease to exist.....

better than Wade Phillips or Jim Schwartz?
Schwartz runs a 4-3, and we haven't even interviewed him. Phillips would be nice but Fangio along with Donatell who would replace Raheem Morris was the play

There was no way Haslett was going to come back, his tenure has stunk period. All I know is I have a feeling we are going to hire some DC for a bargain contract. This Joe Berry hire is going to be laughable. There is no way they should have let Fangio out the building. I suppose the next order of business will be to resign Chester and Polumbus.........Total BS, not a Tuesday I was looking for. Oh well maybe this is the GM's way of making sure Gruden is out of here by the end of next season. Perhaps Scott will blow this entire thing up as probably he should. Get his coaches in here, not some stupid OC who thinks he is better than what he really is......Damn another 2-3 years of being pathetic....Well we done been pathetic for over 20 odd years now, so I guess another 2-3 years of being laughing stocks won't matter.......

I wanted Fangio and Donatell too and agree that was the best hire available, I just don't necessarily agree that Haslett is better than what's available. 3-4, 4-3, interviewed or not I think Schwartz is a better available DC than Haslett was.
Not that it matters now...but for the record Gruden make in excess of $4 million per season, which is high for a first-time head coach and guaranteed $20 million...No DC is getting that.

Scot is not involved in the hiring. I would imagine Allen let him walk out without a contract.

I would love Schwartz and actually think the Bears should have hired him, but he doesn't run a 3-4, don't think he's ever coached it either, so unless we're changing philosophies...yet again, that doesn't make much sense.

C Vic Fangio chooses Bears over Redskins Bears hired Vic Fangio as their defensive coordinator. Both new Bears coach John Fox and Redskins coach Jay Gruden wanted Fangio to head up their defense. The consistently excellent Fangio, who fled from San Francisco after getting passed over for the head-coaching job, chooses to go for the unit with a little more talent. That's not to say he doesn't have his hands full however, as Mel Tucker's Bears fielded the league's No. 30 defense in both 2014 and 2013. But note that in four seasons with Fangio as the 49ers' defensive coordinator, they annually ranked in the top five -- including this year even though they played without Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman, Aldon Smith and Tramaine Brock for extended periods. Expect the Bears to make a leap defensively next season. The Redskins may now have to settle for Chargers LBs coach Joe Barry.
