Yea...I've heard that somewhere before...He's in a good spot IF he turns the team around he'll be beloved here...if it goes south Snyder will get all the blame...LOL

I have super-human mental powers. Ask around, respected posters in this website will confirm this gift of mine.

Start hearing the interview just before the 5:00 minute, 11:00, and 31:00 minute marks in the video:

http://www.redskins.com/news-and-events ... c7e99354bd

Remember that Scot had interviews and talks with other teams, and a previous leak had gone out about Smith in an undefined "enhanced role" instead of Scot coming here ... SOMEBODY was going to come, the only question was who and how soon.

The KEY date was the date when Scot, Dan and Bruce met in DC. But I argue an equally important date was the weekend of the Pukes game in DC and I will leave it at that.

See? ;)

Great press conference and I really enjoyed his interview today with Kevin Sheehan. He seems like a real football guy, and when they asked him why he thought he would be successful here he didn't shy away from answering. Credited all of the knowledgeable people he's learned from (Wolf, Thompson, etc;).

His interview really stood out btw because they interviewed Bruce Allen right before. Amazing difference. Allen is just such a politician, very rarely answers the question that was asked. It was pretty amazing to hear McCloughan talk about his process for building a roster after hearing Allen's vague answers about what they did last offseason.

Anyway. I'd say we have about 10 months + three weeks before the official Scot McCloughan backlash begins. Welcome to DC, Scot!

hah! :)

I'd love to believe Allen/Snyder have been planning to hire a GM all season, so I hope that's the case. I'm not sure why Allen wouldn't have mentioned it at all in his disastrous press conference though. He even answered at the time that it "wasn't too much on his plate" when he was asked about his being both GM/Team President.

I only answered why the statement WRONG was made. The Press Conference confirmed it.

You now ask a DIFFERENT question. There are VERY good reasons why Allen did not hint at a search and, most importantly, the names of candidates being interviewed and/or under consideration in that press conference. But you seem to have at least a hint of doubt about my mental powers. So, I will not elaborate any further at this time. The story will come out eventually. Just wait a little longer. ;)

hah. I totally can't tell if you have some inside info or you're just messing with me! :)

I can understand not releasing any possible names, but what reason would Allen have for hiding that the team wanted to hire a GM?

We have learned over the years that RiC has incredibly reliable 'inside information' about the Redskins ...

He has proven to be infallible ... if circumspect and vague about how he comes by this info.... :?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

1) I would never dare to do the first.

2) Announcements are made ONLY after the ink in a contract dries.

3) I have a number of academic degrees, fancy titles, met all kinds of interesting people, travel the world and speak 4 languages fluently, only 3 with more than one accent, and no, I do not have any degree in FOS.

4) Before I forget, I wish to remind you all that I have not been wrong about any of my statements and each and every one of them proves my superior capacity of concentration and future-telling mental powers.

5) I have no direct sources with staff in the Front Office (and their assistants), coaches or players.

See? There you have it. And all of the above is TRUE.

I love this move. Just hope that Scott is empowered so that he can do what he does best. Which is fill the roster with talent.

I wanted a guy from Seattles staff. What we got is even better. He was the GM for San Fran and Seattle. He has built two very talented teams. He had the insight of both successful franchises. I cant wait for the draft honestly.

Now, is Scott Campbell in Front Office any good at his job? Isn't he the lead scout on college players?

He's been with the Skins a long time. Wonder if he's shaking in his boots now that he has a new BOSS.

If Campbell sucks and isn't cutting it, then Scot M will have to show him the door. Any thought on this?

Scots best attribute is how well he can read people. He doesnt wanna shake up the scout team now during its most important time because it would do more harm tha good. He does have control over them and basically said anyone he thinks is worth keeping he will keep and anyone not he wouldnt.

I also think how well a scout does depends a lot on what he is told to look for. Its very possible our scouts are good, and have just been given bad direction.

THAT coupled with the fact that our scouts are NEVER listed as one of the teams attending the big ncaa games! Notbonce didbi seebus listed ALL season.. like wtf are they doing over there??

Some direction might be all the dept needs... but I wouldnt mind Mc letting a head or two roll, to light a fire under the ones he retains

I totally agree. Not only a culture, but also a media market that puts tremendous amount of stress on everyone in that building. An alcoholic who says they can handle a beer every night is kidding himself, and I hope the stress doesn't push him back into a relapse. If he can handle it, this was a fantastic hire. One thing that I keep telling myself is that this is probably his last chance in the league and he probably knows it.

I think some of yall are making this drinking thing bigger then it is (I actually applaud his honesty [im sure there are plenty of alcoholics/sex addicts/ drug addicts {ie the jerruh allnof the above} etc in the leagues front offices!]).

I too am a recovering alcoholic, and I know we are all different. 2 and a half years sober might not be much to most but I take pride in it. I also know we are ALL different in that we Have different triggers and different demons. AA didnt work for me due to me indulging in NA when I choose to. Doesnt mean im any less of man then them just didnt fit in.
If the guy had issues w the liquor and not beer then we have to give him that. I was a beer connoisseur of sorts drinking responsibly enjoying my stouts and porters before I developed binge drinking crap beer and alcohol. The pints of vodka were my undoing not pints of Guinness. Just because his beer or cple in the evening isn't for you or your sponsor, doesnt mean it isnt fine for him.
Also, he has built himself a VERY impressive resume assumedly whilst having the alcohol problem. We both know there are millions of successful/productive alcoholics- but we got him in his recovery stage! Even better!
Ultimately, even if he is drunk all the while, hes a damn fine evaluator and hand over fist better then a sober Bruce Allen gm
