Gruden's Future
With a new GM on board I’m assuming everything football will be evaluated, from the Pro Player Personnel Department down to the ball boys. So the question is do they keep Gruden? Hiring a new GM gives the Redskins an easy out with Gruden if they want it. I didn’t like the Gruden hire, I wanted to go defense and I’d love to see them bring in Todd Bowles. I’m usually against first time HC (I know he was an interim) because of Snyder, but with a GM to buffer him from the owner I would love to have him here. With the current rules in the NFL geared to the offense you need great defensive minds on your sidelines. The knock on Haslett was he didn’t do more with less this year; nobody did more with less than the Cardinals this year!!

I think DEHog's question is fair and not the first I've heard it. It seems unlikely to me that they'd fire Gruden at this point. It would sure be a bold statement if they did though about who is in charge.
I like Todd Bowles too btw. Did we interview him last year?

Yes very fair question as it's happened numerous times before. Not sure if we interviewed him or not (or Lovie Smith)...if so I'm sure it was just to satisfy the Rooney Rule...

That's too bad. He's done a fantastic job with the Cardinals defense. To be fair, he would not have had much more head coaching experience than Gruden.
Former Redskin is a huge plus. Not to mention a former safety might have known how to fix a certain issue on our team.

I'm not down on Gruden btw. My only complaint with him so far really is that I think he should let go of the nice guy stuff. There's no benefit to being nice and open with the local media. And the players need someone to get after them as well.

Yea I get that, my thoughts were that the Skins wanted Jon but allowed him to talk them into Jay (pure speculation on my part). Then there is the Allen/Tampa Bay connection…I wanted a defensive minded coach, but knew it wouldn’t happen with RG here.

Fair question but I see him staying. He got a 5 year guaranteed contract, and I think Scot will see promise and potential in him.

Personally, I think it is refreshing to have Gruden in there. I like how straight forward he is. If you look at the majority of the players around the NFL, they do no want a coach who is going to cut them a bunch of crap.

I think he was brutally honest with/about Griffin this season. I'd like to see more of that from him with all facets of the team. Ultimately I think people will respect him more for that.

Yup...there is chatter about Scot finding a new HC. I doubt it. Scot had a great relationship with JON Gruden in Greenbay (I think).
It would stand to reason that he likes and respects the Grudens.
Gruden stays IMO

Re: Gruden's Future
Grudges stays. I think the way things fell were not an indictment of his coaching, but moreso Bruce Allens lack of ability to give him any players. You can't make a team of scrubs perform if they are just incapable of it. Jay will be a good coach, but he needs to have his imprint on the roster too. A strong DC will certainly help prove this out.

KILO is right on. Please reference riggofan's signature for DeSean's summation of this point:

I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Re: Gruden's Future
Jay Gruden will be here for another season, that seems pretty obvious
Jay Gruden's future here in 2016 will be determined by:
If the new GM is really in charge - Scot's evaluation will be based on how well he handles the HC job this season
If Dan & Bruce are really in charge (with Scot as GM, of course) Jay's future will be based on how well he handles RG3

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Re: Gruden's Future
Scot has already spoken highly of Gruden...so he's definitely staying.
Re: Gruden's Future
Gruden is plenty safe for next year. He's also at the press conference listening to his new GM.
