Haslett & Redskins "Mutually Agree" to Part Ways

Post by markshark84 »

Haslett is finally out of DC. I don't think is a huge surprise to anyone.....

Now, who will replace him......

I just saw that come across the "wire"....... Nothing against Haz personally. I'm sure he will land on his feet.

Haz had "blackmail" photos of Danny or Bruce....? LOL

Roto:

Redskins fired DC Jim Haslett.
It was announced as a "mutual decision to part ways," but we all know the Redskins canned Haslett. It's been a long time coming, too. How Haslett managed to stay on staff for five seasons, while trotting out beyond-horrible defenses is anybody's guess. We were starting to thinking he had naughty pictures of owner Dan Snyder or GM Bruce Allen. Anyway, he's finally gone. The Redskins' finishes in total yards under Haslett: 31st, 13th, 28th, 18th, and 20th. That actually paints a rosier picture than the units played on the field.

I'd say Rex Ryan but I think he'll end up coaching somewhere as a HC next year. I predict Atlanta.

Rex Ryan is NOT going anywhere unless it's a HC job. He's already interviewing with Atlanta and San Francisco. But Haslett needed to be fired.

Not going to solve all our problems, but I'm still relieved about this move. I think we can do better at that coaching position. Lets' hope we do!

Hmmm, maybe Raheem Morris will be bumped up? Who likes that idea?

Joe Gibbs knew this would happen since last weekend when he came to DC to hear Daniel Snyder's lament last weekend.

If you read my posts over the week. I already had announced this doomed scapegoat scenario and the fact that defense would play for a new DC coach next season. Check my posts. Just sayn'. ;)

No, I did not "predict". Read the posts. And Gruden did everything he could to pay Jim back with loyalty even when the writing was already dry on the wall.

Proving again that the HC in DC really has no say!!! Will he even get a say in the new DC??

:puke:

Rex Ryan won't take the job here. He has options....

I wouldn't mind seeing Wade Phillips, but again, he doesn't "need" it.

Coaches don't want to come to DC. It will be difficult to find a quality DC that is willing to come here --- based on the fate of coaching staffs under Danny boy.

We may end up with Morris ---- and that won't be a good thing based on his tenure in Tampa and his work as DB coach in DC.

Not sure who the DC will be ... hopefully, Snyder and Allen are not involved ....

the fact is there are a huge number of players and coaches that just need the right opportunity ...

Russell Wilson would most likely not even be playing QB in the NFL if he'd been drafted by the Redskins ...

Bill Belicheat should have gone back to being a DC after his horrible effort as HC in Cleveland ...
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yeah, "predicting" Hazmat was getting fired was a real long shot...bawahahahaha

While he didn't have the horses to succeed (either from GM or via injury) he needed to go.

The telling blow for me was the Vikings game. We play the Cowboys (great Oline) and Veteran qb Romo, and pressure him all game and make a ton of plays - and WIN! The next Sunday, against a rookie QB, with an okay OLine we apply NO pressure and give up 29 -- and LOSE to that crappy team.

I've seen a lot of Redskins games, including the 3 Super Bowl wins and never really felt that he was good at in-game or halftime adjustments. He was NO Richie Pettibone, that's for sure!

Let's get a young aggressive guy that the players can grow with. I keep reading posters saying, defensive coaches wouldn't want to come here...really?? How about tons of money?? Danny isn't cheap and these contracts are guaranteed. See Kyle Shanahan...he was unemployed for 2 days!

I can't beleive he said that. On Monday Gruden stated that he wanted Haslett here as his DC...no way the DC positon is Gruden's to make!!

I don't know how to evaluate Haslett fairly. There's no doubt he wasn't coaching the most talented bunch in the NFL.

Even so, if your team found itself facing third down and 23 yards to go, you had a pretty good chance of converting if Jim Haslett was calling the plays on the other side of the field.

At least 2 years too late.

I highly doubt Jay Gruden is in charge of picking the new DC in DC. This whole organization starts and stops, and fails, with Mr. Snyder... period.

If Gruden doesn't pick the DC, he is Done. IMO, this is the HC decision and if he doesn't have the b___s to stand up and insist on making this decision. it is over.

Two comments. One to the folks that say it's not Haz's fault the defense sucked: Haslett has been in the league a long time and his defenses have consistently been mediocre. Bad defenses here aren't an anomaly. He's like the backup QB of Defensive Coordinators.

On Gruden's supportive comments before Haz got fired: What did you expect him to say? "Haz? Oh, he sucks. I can't wait to bring someone else in." ? Just like the HC doesn't (usually) call out players during conferences, he's not going to publicly throw Haz under the bus.
