Worst song ever on radio....
I really hate, hate, hate (ok hate is a strong word) ..........the song "Private Dancer" by Tina Turner.
IMO, the song sucks. The message is sexual. The tune is horrible. The vocals is horrendous.
That's all folks. What say you....?

My first thought was, OMG, there are people who still listen to the radio?

Actually, I had forgotten "Crimson and Clover". Bad. My list would include (1) William Shatner singing / reciting "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", (2) anything by the Cowsills, (3) "bubble-gum rock", such as "Yummy yummy yummy I've got love in my tummy".
There are other songs, but those revolting performances come to mind first.

Hey, now: one of my high school friends was the drummer in Emmylou Harris's first band. I loaned her a quarter once so she could call her parents, between sets, and wish them a happy new year.
Additional bad songs:
- "I fought the law and the law won"
- Buck Owns and the Buckeroos, "I got the hungries for your lovin' and I'm waitin' in the welfare line"
- "Running Bear and Little White Dove"
- "Tell Laura I Love Her"...and other early '60s tear-jerkers

What are you talking about? "I Fought the Law" is a great song!

Re: Worst song ever on radio....
There were some songs we just laughed about way back in high school. Have forgotten most, but "I fought the law" was certainly on the list.
- Nancy Sinatra: "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'": hit song about November, 1967, when I had a job from midnight-to-dawn in an research lab that was empty except for me, some big computers with results from experiments with sub-atomic particles, a "tracking" device to mark the path of the particles, and an AM radio. The heavy equiment interfered with almost all radio stations...only rock&roll stations (Top 40s format) were WHN and WCFL. The ultra conservative WHN belonged to the Chicago Tribune...refused to play anything by the Beatles. I listened to WCFL, "the voice of the Chicago Federation of Labor". No kidding. The big songs were the Stoned Poneys (with Linda Ronstadt): "You and I / we march to the beat of a different drum". Plus "Harper (?) Valley PTA", a vomit-inducing song by the Cowsills about having long hair, and himself, the great Otis Redding's last song, "Dock of the Bay". Here it is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTVjnBo96Ug
I figure that song softens the pain of a Super Bowl without the Redskins. Oh, and I might watch "The Blues Brothers" instead of the Super Bowl just to see the great band -- the MG's of Booker T and the MG's -- who get recruited to back Belushi and Ackroyd...plus Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, and James Brown. Unbeatable.
Hard to think of bad songs when I remember Otis Redding and the other Stax musicians.

Awesome!
Two questions:
1. Did she pay back the "loan?"
2. Did you steal that quarter from CT, 60 years ago?

Re: Worst song ever on radio....
(1) Just being two feet from Emmylou was gift enough!
(2) Never took quarters from CT. Back when we were in elementary school, a nickel was big money. That was the price of a bottle of Coca-Cola -- the small sized bottles they don't make anymore...but they hadn't yet gone to the twelve-ounce bottles. Cans were for beer-drinkers, and you opened one with a can-opener, called a "church key".

There's some song from like ten years ago, Something about riding a bike with no handlebars, easily the worst song ever.

Gary Allen's cover of Runaway. I'd rather listen to an entire day's recording from a White Castle restroom stall.

For those who don't believe it: here is the real Captain Kirk doing "Lucy in the Sky":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AB3uVARNhmM
I heard it as part of "worst songs ever done by a Canadian". Must have been on the radio sometime and somewhere.
And William Shatner doing "Mr Tambourine Man". Seems to have been from the same album (!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0hTtsqiFCc
