Interesting, man. I'd never noticed you were in Houston. I always suspect those of us in the DMV get a different level of disappointment and pain around this team. I cannot tell you how much I dread the week after a loss, especially Sunday nights and Monday mornings. Its just non-stop bombardment on the radio, and I'm unable to turn it off. I also suspect some of the fans who aren't living here anymore probably have a more.. dispassionate? view of the team sometimes.

Can't say I'm a Detroit supporter, but I can understand getting behind that team. There are definitely some comparisons to the Redskins there, and I'm glad to see a team who has been in the same futile situation for so long able to turn it around finally. Like oj pointed out too, they were able to pull off drafting high the QB they needed, play him behind a terrible line and keep him alive long enough to build up around him.

I'd say we're more similar to the J.E.T.S.

It's difficult to not pay attention to the Vikings up here in ND/MN. However, I have yet to embrace them as a 2nd team, because they are just marginally better than the Skins.

Yes and no. I am less exposed to the non-stop media surrounding the team, but on the other hand Houston is a very lonely place to be a skins fan. I'll go to crowded bars in my Morris jersey and always be the only skins fan in the place. I'll watch the one TV allocated to the skins game, typically surrounded by Cowboys and Eagles fans. Once we lose or while we are losing, I'll get a comment here or there thrown at me by a drunk fan, but fortunetely I am a bigger guy so the comments tend to be lame or followed by a smile, disclaimer that they're joking and a pat on the back or a free beer thrown my way. It could be worse, much worse.

But I can't say I am any less passionate as I was when I lived in DC. In fact, the lack of local news makes me crave it more on the internet and forums such as this. I am a firm believer in that you hear the news you want to. If you want to hear about the skins all day, you can regardless of where you are. That being said, in situations such as the one the team is currently in --- it is much easier to break away and tune out.

As far as DET --- Millen was horrendous; literally the worst. However, the owner(s) in DET aren't as involved and are abundantly more patient than Snyder. That is one of the reason Millen lasted so long. DET also go a bit lucky with Stafford. He was a CLEAR #1 pick and a QB. Similar to Luck. Guys like that don't come around every year --- more like every 5-10. Stafford is also tough --- abundantly tougher than most give him credit for or even think. I personally think of him as the toughest QB in the NFL that I can think of right now. There may be others, but Stafford is one of the top. That being said, outside of the skins and a mild fandom toward the Texans only because I live in Houston (and it's a good discussion piece with clients), I don't "like" any team more than the next.

I like watching NFL football (and college games) the only teams I don't like are the Giants, Eagles and Pukes in that order
the seahawks are close too - I like it when they lose

fantasy football and other 'NFL' stuff (games, etc.) is a waste of time

there's only 1 franchise I really like
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yeah didn't mean to imply "less passionate". I actually meant "more rational". :) When you're inundated all day with the radio crazies, and the call-in idiots in particular, its hard not to soak some of that up IMO.

Good point whoever said we were more similar to the JETS.

That seems eminently reasonable to me. I've always kind of liked the Packers (since Lombardi's the NFL icon and we shared him with them), and in recent years the Steelers have given us some high-profile beatings of the Ravens. I also tend to prefer San Fran since they are the '90s rivals of the Cowboys and are an underdog rival of the Seahawks.

I've at times enjoyed watching the Browns, Chiefs, Colts, Vikings, Lions, Jets, and Bills — all old-school teams and franchises that, in general, tend to err on the side of being classy. And I've always had respect for the Raiders franchise, even if the players are known to cheat and the owner was totally crazy . . . I really just enjoy how they continue to embody the essence of the NFL's early post-merger days.

I also think it's fine for Redskins fans who have lived in another city for a long time to have a soft spot for the "home" team, just so they have something else to do after the Skins' game is over and especially during the really hard years

I end up just "admiring" a few other teams ... how they are run ... and how they seem to always be in playoff contention. And they dont have an insane and incompetent owner poisoning everything.

1. New England Patriots
2. Seattle Seahawks
3. Green Bay Packers
4. Indianapolis Colts
5. Denver Broncos
6. Baltimore Ravens

I just love how these teams draft and are run.

As long as idiot Danny Boy Synder is alive -- we are doomed to mediocrity. And that's probably another 40 years. So maybe be 2055 we have a shot to crawl out of laughing stock category.

The Packers are my second favorite team as well...there's a lot of history that goes with that team, and both the city of GB and their fans are awesome people to be around...they don't call it titletown for nothing! If you ever get a chance to go to a Packers game (I went when the Skins played them back in '07), do it. The Packer hall of fame is pretty amazing too...

My Cowboys and Ravens hatred is constant, but the jerk team changes over time. Back in 2008 I nothing-ed the Seahawks but really did not like the Patriots. Nowadays the Patriots don't bother me as much — I guess maybe because they haven't been on top and don't come across as being quite as arrogant — whereas the Seahawks and their fans are really grating to me.

interesting and in thinking about it my feelings about certain teams have changed as well

living in Annapolis, I hated the Pukes and the Ravens - I could care less when the Baltimore team was the Colts

when I moved to Newport, RI - I went to a local bar and saw a sign "If you're a Patriots fan, find another bar" - there are a lot of old time Giants fans here and they are obnoxious - each season I get banned from one or another local place - now the Pats are good again, they are fans of both  = stupid fans
I've come to like the Pats though I do like to remind them about how good Bill was in Cleveland

The Giants, Eagles, Pukes and Seahawks remain the most hated - the others I could care less - actually I'm not as against the Ravens because I don't live in that area any more
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Absolutely. I've hated the Ravens solely because their fans are Richard Craniums, and they constantly remind me how they were raised to hate the Skins, and use the tired, "how are you from Baltimore but cheer for the Redskins" question every time. Cowboys hatred goes without saying. Seahawks hatred started in 2007 after they eliminated us from the playoffs. It's intensified now that new "fans" are coming out of the woodwork and my hatred for Pete Carroll and Richard Sherman.

LOL. The ONLY constant dislike for ANY team, for me, is the Pack. I live close to Green Bay, and am surrounded by their moronic fans. Much funner in the 70s & 80s when the best they could muster was an 8-8 record. Sux, that they went from one HoF QB to another.....as a friend said about Rodgers: "He's too good to wear that ugly uniform!"

Best regards to you all. Enjoy the holidays......no predictions from me, but I really hope the 'Boys take it to the Eagles.......

Undoubtedly. There is no cake walk for the NFC east. These teams hate each other. To give you guys a fair shake, I always thought (most) of your fans are pretty cool. No big woop from me. After 25+ years of Jones running the franchise, I have NO ILLUSIONS about the team they field. I am hopeful we win the division and at least get to the second round.....but I am not holding my breath for sure.

I'd respond to everyone older than 25 that asks you that, "How in the hell are you from Baltimore and aren't a Redskins fan? These Baltimorons who are older than 25 who are "lifelong" ravens fans are full of it. I don't know which I hate more, the cowboys or the ravens at this point.
