I was thinking the same about "Get Well Rock" with Rock Cartwright on the team. And, wow - Redeemed and BTP... what's going on? :-)

You guys should just write "get will Jansen." I just want to find out who is going to the game and what the status is with getting this organized. I will email him once I get a tally.

Dueling threads. I think we agreed upon,

"Get Well Jan-Sen" followed by the traditional 5 claps. (Clap, clap, clap/clap/clap.)

ok so i just emailed the guy at Washington Post and here's what i said:
So, we have a plan for the Jansen tribute on Saturday. After the toss of the coin, many of the guys around the stadium will have signs saying "Get well Jan-sen." Just like when you are at a game and they have the chant, " lets go Redskins" clap, clap, clap-clap-clap. I know that two sections of the stadium already know and are going to help jumpstart it. Once they get it going i think everyone else will catch on. Also, one of the guys from thehogs.net works for a local AM sports talk radio station in DC and they're going to notify people of what they are doing at their pregame booth. We are not looking for any recognition for this, we just want Jansen to know that the fans appreciate his hard work. Thanks so much for even considering this and should you have any questions please feel free to call me: . I live in Los Angeles and wont be at the game but you can call me or just go to thehogs.net and talk with the guys in hogwash forum. Thanks again.

He'll email me back tommorow morning so i'll update you guys on what he says. We are just running short on time for this to get printed for Saturday.

You guys are really really cool. Jon would totally appreciate this coordinated effort. Wish I could be there to join in.

As a side note, when Bondra left the Caps last season, there was a table set up with two huge stacks of paper that folks could sign and write messages on. It had a cover page that said "thanks Peter, for all the good memories" and the whole thing was turned into a thank you card, or book, and sent to him. Perhaps something along the lines of a get well card could be done for Jon.

I really like what you guys are trying to get organized.... and am really impressed that Frank from Cally is really helping out alot with this 3000 miles away....

But... I really think you guys should simplify your chant.... A football stadium... is alot noiser than a baseball stadium.... even when people aren't cheering for anything... and I've never been to any high school, college, or Professional football event... and there was synchronized clapping in the stands... I've heard it baseball... but not in football....

A simple "Jan-sen" will get the message across, that we appreciate what he's done for us and wish him a speedy recovery.... it will also help all the guy's and gal's who are 3 sheets to the wind, join in... instead of having to put down their beer's and try to figure out how to clap in a rhytem pattern ;)

Think how awfull the ending to Rudy would have been if the stadium started cheering:

"Put in Ru-dy!" clap, clap, clap-clap-clap ... :|

Ok, where in there guys. I'm will email him tommorow about lunch time for me so that he'll have it that afternoon. This is totally going to work. Here's what he said:

Thanks for the update, Anthony. I got another email about this and definitely plan to put something on it in my notebook for Saturday's paper. Could you do me one favor, though? I am pretty swamped these days and would probably forget to do a note on the Jansen chant without a reminder. Could you send me a follow up email Friday afternoon? That way I will definitely remember to get it in.
Thanks again and let me know if there is anything else going on with the fans out there I should know about. I'll do whatever I can to help out.
Cheers.

Well, when he went down I immediately wanted to send him a letter...words of encouragement.
The guy ALWAYS mentions The Fans and how important we are. He plays to win and to please the fans.

Here's what we got in the Washington post:

A group of Redskins fans plan to honor Jansen, one of the team's longest-serving players, before the game with signs and chants before the coin toss.

He got the time wrong but that's ok . Just be as loud as you can and enjoy the game. thanks for everything

I guess we should stick with what is written in the paper. We may get more support that way! ;-)
