Definitely incredible. He apparently has the ability to run 70 yards in like 1.5 seconds.

Actually, it takes him just over 2.5 seconds. His 40 time is 1.5 seconds. I can see why you got confused. You probably forgot that he's blocking for himself too.

According to Football Outsiders, we rank ...

16th in run blocking and 23rd in pass pro. The pass pro stat is based strictly on # of sacks. Chip Kelly (for what it's worth) says EVERY sack is the QB's fault.

We rank 6th running behind our left tackle, 4th up the middle, and 7th when we sweep the right end.

We rank 29th when sweeping left end and 18th when running behind our right tackle.

This suggests we should run the ZB cutback left, fake sweeps left to boot right, and run pistol/read option with Morris set to the right of Griff so Morris either gets it up the middle, or Griff keeps and sweeps right, or Griff fakes and throws.

If pass protection is only ranked by number of sacks allowed, then we should be #19.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats? ... E&tabSeq=2

Good stuff though in the numbers you quoted. The run blocking numbers especially.

I was just looking at the sacks by QB this season btw:

Cousins 8 sacks 5.5 games
Griffin 9 sacks 2 games
McCoy 5 sacks 1.5 games

Its kind of crazy that Vikings game accounted for like 1/4 of all the sacks allowed this season so far.

I'm hoping we can find a S, NT, RG and RT

I'm glad that Kory is looking good at center - since the Spring I've advocated for 'upgrades' at LG, C, RG and RT
now, we just need LG, RG and RT ... plus depth

we also need a true NT and S and hopefully the kids keep improving at CB

just like always - we'll be better next season ... especially if they keep DeSean in to block as well as running deep routes

we can take some solace in the fact that the stats indicate we have NO issues with the O line and just need to address the defense in order to improve our win loss record
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Teams with decent o-lines do better? Do you not see how much pressure Andrew Luck is under?

Might he do even better with a better o-line?

Anyway, IND comes in at #5 thus far as a run blocking line and #3 in pass pro. IND is particularly good on the edges. My guess is you (we) have watched a few huge games of theirs and what we tend to remember are the plays where he stood in there and made a tough throw right before taking a shot. There are plenty more where he drops back, surveys the field, finds an open guy, and puts it on his hands.

Just get some guys who remind people of Sir Charles Mann and Dave Butz; a center an OG, and an OT.

It's always been about "next year". Snyder has made 100s of millions guarenteeing "next year".

I've literally been waiting 20 years for the skins to truly focus on the OL/DL...... and they still haven't. Snyder wants to sell tickets, merchandise, etc. and you don't see many people rocking Trent Williams jerseys out there do you.....

all that really matters is that we are at 3-6 for the 4th consecutive season
and much of that is because of our terrible 3rd down play on BOTH offense and defense

I love that stats show that we have a lot to look forward to from our offensive line - that's a big help
kind of like winning the off season title every year

hopefully we can find a way to overcome both lines and pull off a win against the mighty buccaneers tomorrow

To repeat myself, why are we The Hogs Net? Yes, a powerful OL flattens a defense, opens the runs, and gives the QB time to pass. Mark Rypien did not have the quick release of a Sonny Jurgensen, but the "Piglets" (Junior Hogs) gave him enough time to make long throws...and Mark the Ripper was among the best deep passers.

I just got back from DC - drove to NJ last night and then up to RI ...

my thoughts - this is the same team and group of players and coaches that beat the pukes and was at 3-5 and looking ahead to the Vikings, a bye week and then the Bucs ... NOTHING has changed EXCEPT that we are now 3-7 - I remember thinking that this was a huge opportunity and at the same time thinking that this franchise has done nothing over the past few years but let us all down

and here we are - venting at a bunch of players that are not playing up to our or their own expectations

let's be honest here - we have not been a very good unit all year - we have the same issues this week as we've had all year
we went into this season with major concerns about some critical parts of this team, the secondary, the offensive line, the defensive line and the leadership of both the offense and defense

we have some players to build around and hopefully the FO can find a way to add some more

very disappointing

but in all honesty an offense does not work when you do not have an O line - a defense does not work when you don't have a secondary

no team can be successful when parts of that team are letting other parts down

Our secondary making McCown look all pro whilst enabling Evans to have a career day?
COVERING HIM WITH PERRY RILEY AFTER ALREADY BURNING US FOR A DEEP BALL???
I blame robeert for that too.

I understand that you're a RG3 fan.

Please point out one post where I've blamed the defensive woes on Griffin. I don't blame Griffin for anything other than being drafted as a "franchise QB" who still cannot grasp the basic fundamentals of quaterback play. Did you not see how many guys were WIDE OPEN on Sunday?

And please stop using a strawman to refute things I didn't even say.

the primary concern here this season has (until now) NOT been at the QB position - we have a number of issues but primarily we have not seen anything very good from ANYONE this season including the coaching staff

we have known all season that Gruden and MacVay are trying to get Griffin to adapt his style of play and that has not gone well so far
IMO Griffin is now on a much shorter leash than he was and needs to start showing progress - BIG TIME

HOWEVER - our primary need is at safety - we also need to see a much better effort from BOTH players and coaches

I am still hoping that Griffin can show that he is a very good NFL QB - he has not done that yet

I will be very surprised if he does not find a way to become that player most of us expected him to be

Correct me if I'm wrong, but here you pretty much said Bob primarily deserves the blame and concerns for the team's losing. Personally, I feel like it's a team sport, and no one player wins or loses a game, even if the QB spot is the most influential.

I intended to say SkinsJock was placing blame everywhere except the QB position and that SkinsJock was having concerns everywhere except the primary one, the quarterback. My original post was worded wrong, sorry for the confusion.
