Hey all.....Vomit, the Cowboys fan here.
What is your take on "Dirty" Sanchez???? I was shocked to see them post such big numbers....but did not watch the game. Is Sanchez in the right situation here? Foles a dead duck/Eagle?
Just wondering. Have a great week.

First off, this belongs in the forum called Around the League. Anyway ...
I don't know how others feel but I think Chip Kelly is a fantastic coach. The league has not caught up yet. His guys essentially never huddle. If he gets the defense in a bad personnel grouping matchup, the defense can only recover with a timeout. His team has bought in and the ones who didn't are gone. They are in excellent physical condition.
Sanchez has talent. Now he has an offense designed to showcase it and the personnel to deliver. I expect the Eagles to win the East with Sanchez at QB. Everyone will struggle to beat them. They've won a couple close ones (offensive line pretty decimated) but they won them anyway. Their two losses were very close on the road to excellent teams.
They lost at 49R by 5 points in week 4. This was the game where Kap threw the miracle across the field throw to Gore and then the Eags drove to first and goal at the 6 near the end and could not get in.
They also lost at ARZ by 4 points in week 8 when a rookie named John Brown caught a 75 yard TD pass with 1:21 left. The Eags quickly drove to the ARZ 16 but could not punch it in.
The Eagles are pretty much as good as anyone in the NFC and are one of the few teams that can march with IND (beat 'em in Indy), DEN, and PAT.
They are at PAC this week. I'm watching!

That's all true, but I personally don't like him. Most college coaches who go into the NFL have to adapt to the pros, while Kelly is like "Nah, I'll let the league adapt to ME!" I think it's weird seeing the coaches throw hand signals, hold up signs with pictures, etc. I remember one game where the Eagles had a big lead, and they didn't know how to burn the clock. So, what they did was their standard no huddle, but once they were set at the line, they just stood there staring at Kelly. It was whack. But hey, all of this wins the man games, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I also dislike Sanchez. I think he's better suited with this team than with the Jets, but I could never take the guy seriously after seeing this one play:

Everytime I see Sanchez, I can't help but think of this. They should've cut off his Captain patch after this game.

Their best quality is that they can score TDs with the offense on the sideline. Their special teams are really good.

I guess the guy I wouldn't be able to take seriously after watching this would be the Jets offensive coordinator. BTW - I hope the ref called holding or something. That's a throw down around 7-9 yards from the LOS.

I wish we'd gotten rid of Shanny a year earlier and hired Kelly. We'd love his ass if he were wearing B & G.

Re: Philthy Eagles...WTF?
To be fair, the Panthers were TERRIBLE on Monday night. They turned the ball over twice the first three times they touched it.
I don't think the Eagles are great, but they do seem to be the best in the NFC East this year. Fewest flaws IMO.
As far as wishing we had hired Chip Kelly, I just don't think its that simple. In fact, even after everything that went down with Shanahan, I still would rather that we hired Mike than Chip Kelly at that time. No single coach was going to come in here and turn us into an immediate winner. I will never believe that for a second. Chip Kelly is obviously a talented coach who was lucky enough to be hired by a good organization that had already been winning more than losing under Andy Reid for a decade.
I still say Shanahan did most - not all - of the dirty work that needed to be done if we ever want to be successful. Got rid of Vinny. Got our terrible contract situation sorted out. Somebody had to do that sooner or later.

Several good points above.

But I DO think one man can make a huge immediate difference. Reid's last 4 years with the Eags were 11-5, 10-6, 8-8, and 4-12. The sample size on Kelly is admittedly small but I think he made a huge immediate difference in the way that team plays.
If we think we are close at all and if we think we have only been a few plays away in some games, then one guy could absolutely come in here and turn us into an immediate winner.

I'm in complete agreement. I think you put a finer point on what I was trying to say. The Eagles definitely needed that change from Andy Reid, but he left that team in pretty good shape in terms of personnel and organization. And Chip Kelly has made a huge immediate difference. Completely different situation from what Mike Shanahan walked into in DC on day one though, yeah?
I don't really think we've been "close" yet. Let's be honest, 2012 was borderline miraculous. We've had moments and times where I've felt optimistic, but when was the last time we had back to back winning seasons? I'm really hoping Gruden is able to finish 8-8 at least this season and start turning this ship in the right direction.
StorminMormon, I'm with you on Sanchez. That guy always strikes me as D-U-M, dumb. Let's see how he holds up in Green Bay this weekend.
