“So during this time I’ve been listening, learning, growing as a player in this offense,” Griffin went on. “It’s our job to help this team win and I’ve been there for Kirk and Colt as much as I possibly can. And being there for this team to make sure they’re as ready as possible during this process. And it sucks that I can’t get out there and play with them and help them get wins.

“But I’ve been listening to the doctors, listening to the trainers, listening to the coaches and we’re not gonna rush my ankle. It’s a blessing that I wasn’t hurt as bad as it could have been. It’s been a blessing and I’ve been recovering right on time. So that’s good. But at the same time we don’t want to rush that.

“It’s Dallas week. We all want to beat Dallas. We know what this game means for our season. So that’s what I’ve been trying to do this week and making sure that I’m ready to go, making sure that this team is ready to go and whoever plays quarterback is ready to go. That’s all I got to say. Gruden keeps saying that Griffin is going to play when he's ready but he's not going to be rushed back into it

I think the media are trying to make out like Griffin is going to play because that's what they do - bunch of BS

I disagree, honestly if he is going to be activated I think he will play. If you want to have him wait it out than don't even bother wasting a roster spot.
And if he is activated than he is physically able to perform.

Ordinarily, yes... but not in this case... you'd prepare the same way for both, as, other than the fact that Bob has the vastly superior athletic talent, they have similar skill sets... so, "No". This is probably not Gruden playing mind games, at least not as you'd normally see it done.

There's a difference. We have guys "active" every week who don't play. I agree with you about the roster spot, though.

Jay Gruden played coy all week with Robert Griffin III's availability for Monday night's tussle with the Dallas Cowboys.

RGIII was listed as questionable after Gruden continually said he would start if the quarterback's ankle was deemed healthy enough.

It isn't looking healthy enough.

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Monday morning that Griffin won't play against the Cowboys, according to a Redskins source. Colt McCoy will start as expected.

So am I. I'd be happy to see him play his first game back against the Bucs. They are a sorry team and he can perform well against them and raise his confidence. But, I wouldn't be against him playing against the Vikings if he is ready with them not being that good.

Well he was "limited by injury" in practice just three days ago, so I'm assuming that means he's not 100% healthy yet unless you know something the rest of us don't.

Either way, I'm kind of blown away that he's expected to return at all this season. If you think about what was being said the day after the Jaguars game about his being done for the season, etc; its either amazing or very lucky. He did say something the other day about his being "fortunate" the injury wasn't as bad as it might have been.

I'm not buying a lot of 'reports' about Griffin

this kid is getting back on the field soon - that would not be happening if there was any doubt about his health or durability

I'll agree that this team will be a lot more consistent when we can get better play from both the O line and the D line - also that Griffin needs time to become a better all round QB

I'm looking forward to seeing Griffin become a completely different QB than we've ever seen - Griffin is very intelligent and when that is coupled with his athletic ability we're going to have one of the best QBs to ever play the game

I understand the health concerns but Griffin's health is not the reason he's not on the field tonight - he needs time to develop and while that development means more time in actual games, Gruden will know when the time is right to get him back in there

I think that Gruden wants both McCoy to have some playing time and Griffin to have more time to develop and become a better QB

I just don't think his health is why he is not playing

well, I guess it is in a way - Gruden also does not want to risk Griffin's health behind this O line

I'm starting to get hyped about this.

Griffin may have added another “very” to that status on Wednesday when he was a full participant in practice for the first time since he dislocated his ankle in Week Two. Gruden said after practice that Griffin still needs to be cleared for game action by doctors, so it’s hardly a sure thing that he’ll be back in the lineup against the Vikings this weekend.

He still split first-team reps with Colt McCoy, however, and that should give Gruden a chance to analyze where Griffin is mentally after missing so much time. Assuming he passes both the physical and mental hurdles left to clear, it’s hard to imagine that Washington won’t turn back to Griffin.

from what we've heard this week, IF Griffin is cleared to play by the medical people, Gruden is going to let him start even though he could use the next 2 weeks to get more comfortable with the offense

In retrospect, I am not worried about him physically so, why not ...

I can understand the worry but I just cannot believe that an athlete like this will not be the great QB this franchise needs - IT's OUR TIME


last week I was thinking that every week some team finds a way to win a game they shouldn't ... WHY NOT US

and then we go out with our 3rd string QB and beat the pukes in their house - THAT's a BIG DEAL



now we get our QB back - this is a game changer and I think it's our turn to ride the train

Though Griff may start this Sunday, I maintain the view (opinion) that he will not be healed nor will he have practiced enough until sometime after the bye.

I think it would be premature of the Redskins to start Griff this Sunday and I anticipate holding my breath every time he gets hit or makes some sort of move. Ironically, I think McCoy's success could help the brass make the decision to start Griff because now we are "close" and "have a chance" whereas if we had lost we could just say "we're out of it anyway so let's just wait until after the bye" ... or even until next year.

Everyone will, I just hope he is healthy and mobile. It's going to hard to expect for him to play like an all star. But if he plays okay, healthy after (hopefully) a win. I would say it was a success and he will build upon it after the bye!

NOT me - If Griffin is healthy he should play - TOTALLY agree that Griffin needs the time and should wait until after the bye

AND

McCoy is able to win this game if everyone plays like they did last Monday


HOWEVER - even though Griffin needs the time to be more comfortable with this new style offense, he's still a better QB than McCoy

I think that Griffin's presence on the field will be a huge lift for a bunch of players and especially Morris, Reed and the WR's
