Basking in a Victory over the Cowboys

Post by hanburgerheel »

I gotta lot of crow to eat over deriding the defense. But, I got upset when the back-up QB led them to back-to-back scores.

However, they made it count when it mattered.

Those Redskins played with a LOT of heart and drive and determination tonight. This is one of the most memorable MNF victories over Dallas. I'm reminded of when I was 10 years old and watching Washington win at RFK on MNF over Dallas 9 points to 5 points!

WAY TO GO, GUYS!

Best MNF win against the cowgirls since Santana caught two bombs from Brunell in under 5 minutes.

BTW cusps to Haslett tonight. I've given him a lot of bunk on this site and while I still don't like him, he called a hell of a game tonight other than the blown coverage on the Witten td.

Breeland is a huge reason we won last night. Player of the game, IMO.

Understand the frustration, I was groaning when Murray ripped off that 50 yard run. But even so, the defense was playing their best game of the season.

I agree. It was so awesome to watch the team playing with that kind of intensity and passion. That's all I really want from this team. Wish we could find a way to play like that consistently.

I agree riggofan - these guys just need to believe in themselves and their coaches ...

The defense (players & coaches) MOSTLY did a good job last night - the players are starting to do what the coaches have been trying to get them to do - Haslett is the DC - these players need to play as well as they are capable and do what the coaches want

for the most part it was a good job by the D last night
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Heard a weird coincidence on the radio this morning. Last year we beat the Chargers in OT to get to 3-5, then had to go play the Vikings in Minnesota on a short week.

This year, we beat the Cowboys in OT to get to 3-5 and have to go play the Vikings in Minnesota on a short week.

it's a good thing that we're going to see the 2014 guys playing and NOT the Shanahan led group

we just need to have the guys do the jobs their coaches try to get them to do

good play by all 3 facets last night - we can be OK with that sort of effort from both coaches and players

it's actually hard to say we won because of this or because of that - there were many good plays and some good coaching

Totally true. I was glad to hear Colt McCoy come out and give a lot of credit to the defense for keeping them in the game early. Special teams was really awesome last night too. 2/2 from Kai. Good return from Roberts, good coverage and that one hit on their returner. Was that Akeem Jordan?

You know, you hear a lot from Dallas fans that they don't care about these games as much as we do. I don't know if that's true or not, but I think our team looked like WE cared more about it last night and it made a big difference.

That's an absurd thing to say, fabe. Have some human compassion! The guy clearly already has a developmental disability.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

What I liked hearing was his thoughts on how he played. It really sounded like he understands what he did wrong, and that if he had to play several games, would really improve with each outing.

Good point, man. Its cool too that a lot of his mistakes were actually correctable. ex. Discovering that he needs to air it out a little more for Jackson or some of his miscues in getting the plays in, getting the right guys in the huddle, etc;

I liked that McCoy didn't crumble under intense pressure. I've really underrated that ability lately.

Great observation. He seemed like a real pro a few times when the game was on the line.

Watching NFL Network after the game- all they seemed to wanna talk about was Romo's back!

Yeah, it was too funny. I was switching back and forth between ESPN and NFLN, and on both the storyline was still the Cowpies. The Redskins were just an afterthough in all the discussions. What was really funny was when the ESPN guys were talking to Colt after the game, one of them was like, "How did it feel coming in here and playing the 7-1 Cowboys?" I wish Colt had said, "Um, no. They're the 6-2 Cowboys. You just thought they were going to be 7-1."

It was Akeem Davis and if you haven't seen the show undrafted you should check it out. He's one of the undrafted players they follow on their path to the NFL and it's a really cool show, i find myself cheering for him even more now. I'd actually like to see this guy on the field for defense at some point. He plays ST with a nasty streak i love and seems to have good speed, hopefully he'll get a chance at some point.

Not surprising. After all, that's why they lost. Clearly.

Its what makes beating Ttit so damn rewarding. Everyone goes apoplectic because they've started to believe their own horse manure about that team. Every single year.

My dad's text to me last night immediately after the game: "Is it December already?"

btw - while we're enjoying this ...

where are the losers who predicted a 3-13 season and no hope of winning games like last night

as of 8pm last night, the Redskins were one of the worst teams in the NFL and the pukes were being hailed as one of the top 3
