The defense shut down McCoy and Sproles and dared Foles to beat them. Two plays by our special teams and this is a completely different ball game. No excuses but this one is not entirely on the D. I'm disappointed they couldn't get to Foles fast enough. He's a tough Sob. They certainly hit him today.

You guys are freaking crazy. This was pretty much EXACTLY the score that everybody predicted last week. Nobody should be surprised that the Eagles were able to score that many points, because they do it every week.

The team held McCoy and Sproles to what? 40 yards? They forced Foles to beat us, and he did a great job.

Defense wasn't great in the first half, but they held the Eagles to two FGs in the third quarter and forced three punts. Totally kept us in the game and gave us a chance to win.

You got my agreement. I was impressed with Haslet tightening up the second half. I know the defense has to be winded after dealing with a fast pace O like Eagles have. The did the best they could but it wasn't good enough.

Right on, man. You HAVE to give Haslett credit for how they came out in the second half. That was nine Eagles drives where they held them to sixteen points.

When we play teams that do not put several receiver sets out there almost every play, we get to the QB. Their 5 wide out sets were sick. Now that we are missing DHall for the rest of the season our suspect secondary has taken a step back. I was disappointed in Merriweathers play. Good thing that wasn't Rambo. We can still salvage the season and be better than 8 and 8. We just have to stop ST break downs and we can win many games this year.

Because they weren't. We saw atrocious last year.

Kilmer72 that's a good point about Merriweather though. Hopefully it was just rust, that was his first real game, but he didn't have a great game yesterday and wasn't he the guy who whiffed on the kick return?

If we review the Redskins play this year, IMO Special teams have cost them 2 games. First game against Texans and yesterday against the Eagles. Hard to say the defense has not performed well enough to win and the offense is scoring enough pts to win.

If we can put together decent performances from all three phases, we will be in the game just about every week. The D took a heavy hit with D-Hall and Ignachio out. I hope Baker doesn't get suspended. Getting pretty thin, and Seattle's coming to town. That one may get ugly.

Is the Seattle offense that good? Better than Philly?

No snark, just wondering. I know Marshawn Lynch looked pretty good in the game I watched this season. Kind of had the impression though that they were more of a defensive team.

I have no problem with the play of the defense yesterday. Special teams was a huge problem... Cousins chose the wrong time to develop accuracy problems.

Considering we were playing the number one offense, and had a couple of major injuries and an ejection, I thought they did a pretty solid job. Philly realized they could put a WR in the slot so Riley had to cover him and we had no other options. Throw in a couple of bogus PI calls and there you have it.

Why would he? I don't think the hit warranted his ejection from the game (though that may have stemmed from the fight that ensued), and arguably shouldn't even have been penalized. I understand the whole defenseless target thing, but if Foles was making a move to try and tackle Breeland, he becomes fair game to block. I was pissed off that Foles called the hit "dirty" in his press conference after the game. What was dirty, and should have caused an ejection, was the hit put on Cousins after the delay of game at the end. We always get so screwed by the refs not calling fouls evenly both ways.

I couldn't agree with you more on both of those points. Are you the first person to post these opinions? I was so irritated to see FANS complaining about the Baker hit. Foles was moving in the direction where Breeland was running. Its Baker's JOB to block him at that point. If Foles doesn't want to get hit or blocked, he needs to stay out of the play.

All day on ESPN yesterday there were people talking about the "dirty hit". I didn't hear a single comment about Cousins being hit AND slammed to the ground after that whistle. Total BS.

I saw 4 hits this last weekend that were just like what Merriweather did in preseason and only 1 got a flag thrown, let alone a 2 gams suspension so......

I understand that. I'm not so concerned about the way the referees reacted to the hit, pretty typical. I just don't think it was fair that all of these idiots on ESPN who had the opportunity to look at the replay were still out there yesterday calling it a dirty play. It was a block.

Gruden didn't discipline Baker at all, so I suspect he agrees.

Our Dline seems quite good, but the secondary may be one of the worst in the league. I can't believe we didn't do more to shore it up in the offseason, it may cost us the playoffs.
