Yes Rambo made some (big, huge) mistakes, but the fact of the matter is he was thrown in the deep end without flotaties the first time he hit the water (given that he was a 6th round draft pick, I think that works) and we're shocked he had a rough time keeping his head above water. I'm not willing to say he's be scapegoated, but what he did get was pretty damn close.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

I'm sorry, the NFL is a be ready or go home league. The Redskins didn't want to start him either, but that's what happened. He's not being scapegoated, the NFL is a big boy league. There are no trophies just for playing.

He'll be back when Meriweather inevitably hurts himself and gets put on IR.

I don't really agree with the scapegoat comment. We didn't need a scapegoat coming off the Jaguars win. We just needed a roster spot for Merriweather.

Rambo was cut because he showed he wasn't ready to be a full time starter AND Akeem Davis is better on special teams.

I totally agree that Rambo was thrown in woefully unprepared last year. But seeing him a year later give up those same big plays in back to back games against the Texans and Jags, I can't say I blame the coaching staff for moving on.

No he won't. That's why they brought up Akeem Davis and signed Ignatchio, or however you spell it, from Denver.

The near scapegoating comment is directed at the balance of his time here, not just what happened in the jaguars game. Now, I don't disagree with the theory of "produce or be gone". BUT the fact that our 6th round rookie safety couldn't figure out how to play and well against starting NFL players apparently wasn't surprising to only me. They had one safety suspended for an indefinite period, another out due to (I forget why Merriweather was out to begin last year, injury?) ______ and he was pressed into starting role. SHOCKER, he got burned, badly. But I'm not really too upset about it, I just think the team had a good chunk of blame for that failure as he did. I do think if he was pressed into starting duty for the first time in 2 weeks or so, this story would've ended differently, but who knows.

It's hard to defend a player who gets burned missing a coverage one week... then does the same thing the following week. At some point, there is an expectation that you will learn from your errors... I think the conclusion was, he's just not taking advantage of his learning opportunities. Contrast him with David Amerson, who appears to never make the same mistake twice, and is on his way to locking down a starting position for the forseeable future.

Oh good lord ... Rambo was horrible regardless of the round he was picked. Poor tackling is one thing, but the poor angles, and missing the ball and the receiver by two or three feet, allowing routine completions to become big plays? There is no excuse. This is a safety position ... meaning you keep the play IN FRONT OF YOU! This isn't something he should be "learning" in the NFL.

I watched this kid play in amazement, wondering what was wrong with him. Watching him try to make a tackle reminded me of a kicker pretending to try to make a tackle ... you know ... we have all seen the kicker throw his body out toward the return man, hitting nothing but air? When your safety does stuff like that, you aren't very safe.

The only surprising thing to me was that he actually made the final roster at the final cut down.
