Why are so many people still of the mindset that Robert is the starter no matter what? This wasn't the first time KC has outplayed RG3, and it probably won't be the last. Let's say Robert is out for 8 weeks and the team is sitting at 8-1 or 7-2. Do you still bench Cousins in favor of RG3? At some point those making the personnel calls will have to wake up and smell the coffee...

This was the first time Cousins outplayed Griffin in a regular season game. Please point to the last game in which Cousins outplayed Griffin in the regular season. Please. Griffin is the starter. He just got hurt (on a freak pass play, a pass that he completed, by the way, after getting injured, but never mind that), he didn't get benched for poor play leading to an inept offense. Stop creating false narratives that don't bear any resemblance to reality.

Kirk is a great back up QB, Sunday is what they are supposed to do. I mean, did you believe Frank Reich should have been the Bills starting QB in the Superbowl in '93 after he brought the Bills from behind to beat the Oilers in starting relief for an injured Kelly and then led them to victory in the following playoff game?

No, Griffin should not be benched when he comes off his injury for Kirk*

*Unless Kirk takes us to the Superbowl and wins it.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Damn, RGIII being out for only 8 weeks and us being 8-1 or 7-2 is a dream scenario. Please, God, give us that "problem" to deal with.

If the Redskins are 8-1 when Griffin is ready to be put back in, and they GO with Griffin, then we have the dumbest people in charge in the history of pro football. That's not knocking Griffin, that's undervaluing your present WORKING program. That's also telling your QB, and team, who just won 8 games in a row, that you're not sold on his ability.

It's kinda cool seeing how grossly-optimistic one decisive win can increase fans' perceptions! =D>

i'm reserving judgement until Cousins has played a couple games and other teams can game plan their defense for him, last year when he was game planned for he lost 3 starts in a row i believe ( in his defense our team was abysmal so i'm not judging him off that either ). If he plays consistently over the next 3 weeks then we'll have an opportunity to discuss our QB when/if RGIII returns. If Cousins doesn't play well then all this talk is pre-mature. Great win yesterday, great day for Kirk and the O and i hope it continues. Division games start now and i' ready to rid the taste of last years 0-6 showing in the division.

I don't even understand the comment that Cousins "outplayed" Griffin yesterday. RGIII got injured. Its not like he was out there sucking, and Cousins came in to save the day.

you have seen exactly ONE... ONE... person voicing that mindset. Yet, this theme pervades the forums today. Seriously?

Most of us are just grateful for this incredible depth... and a single, hope-giving, dominant performance.

to clarify for you - I hope ...

If after the next 7 games and by some great fortune Griffin is available and ready to play and the record is 7-2 or 8-1, I seriously doubt that Griffin will be the starter but if he is it will be because the HC thinks that Griffin gives the team the best chance at success

I do not think that Griffin will be playing in 2 months but if he is available and the HC thinks he's the better option, Griffin will be the QB

right now, Cousins knows that he's the best QB for the Redskins - Cousins also knows that Griffin is the better QB for this team and when he's ready to show that again, he will be the starting QB and Cousins will be the back up QB

I will be reminding you that you actually thought this team's record might be 7-0 over the next 7 games - it's possible! .... I'm optimistic but I do not think we're going 7-0 or even 6-1 the next 7 games - especially not with Cousins & this O line

check the schedule, please
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

This is going to be overlooked in all the RG3/Cousins talk but.... How freaking good was David Amerson. The dude was everywhere in coverage, blanketing WRs, and almost had himself a pick that could have easily gone for 6. I was extremely skeptical after an awful year last year but here's to hoping he's turned a big corner!

Fair enough. Was focused on a different point, didn't even notice that point.

I just really don't get where all of this anti-griffin sentiment is coming from. Because he's gotten hurt?

Who were you watching? You must be confusing him with Rambo, because Amerson was anything but awful last season.

It's not normal to play a lot of rookie DBs. Amerson and Rambo are better from the year played starting in the big leauges, but that is certainly not the norm. I hope they continue to improve and prove their worth. Amerson was a bright spot last year in a bad defense. Glad to see him getting better and will soon be recognized around the league as a solid corner.

Oh, and 10 SACKS!!??? Are you kidding me? Tying a franchise record - what a turnaround for this defense. But it was Jacksonville, so I will reserve excitement until we start winning division games. Two chances within the span of 5 days next week, Iggles then Giants. Not sure we will get the Iggles, but I am more hopeful of positive result vs. NYG. 3-1 (2-0 NFC East) has a might fine ring to it.

Any word on Alfred Morris and whether he was hurt at all or not? We need him to stay strong, though I love our RB depth at the moment. Helu and Redd are great change ups, but I want my man Alfred Morris in there for the bulk of the carries.

Yes Jacksonville is a bad football team. Had we barely won this game 13-10, or 17-10, I'd say we have cause for concern. But that's what good football teams do. They DESTROY bad teams. Which is exactly what we did. I'm excited for the season.

That's a great point about Frank Reich. I feel Griffin is the better quarterback based upon what I've seen from 2012 when he won games virtually by himself at times passing and rushing.

But I do think we need to give Kirk a bit more credit. He's had flashes of brilliance at times since he's been a Redskin. He's also shown that he is capable of having under performing games as well. I just think we just to need to see a good body of work and have him play 4-5 more games until we can give him an accurate assessment.

I would stay with RG3 if he comes back unless Kirk performs as he did against the Eagles the rest of the way.

Totally agree. And personally I'm throwing out what we saw out from him in those three games last year. There were so many issues in 2013 and it was such a dysfunctional team. I don't think its smart to judge Cousins or Griffin based on what we saw last year.

I was really impressed by Cousins v. the Eagles yesterday. He didn't look like a game manager, and he didn't look like he was in over his head. I want to see him do it over a few more games too. Also, I still don't think he has faced a top notch defense yet in either the Jags or the Eagles. That Seattle game in a few weeks will tell us a lot about him. He was still pretty clutch playing a tight game in a hostile away stadium.

Btw I was totally blown away when they showed that photo of the Michigan State QBs. Cousins, Foles and Brian Hoyer. Wow, I don't follow college football as closely as that and had no idea. That probably says something about Kirk right there that he was starting with Foles behind him.

Griffin will be the starting QB when he's ready to play again AND he shows that his progression from the QB he was in 2012/13 has put him ahead of Cousins - he is not there yet but I believe he was showing good progress - he will not just assume the starting role, he will be made the starting QB when he's shown Sean and Jay that he's the best fit for this offense

I hope that Cousins can continue to play very well but I also think there's no way that Griffin does not become the better option at QB

I am positive you will get agreement on throwing out Kirk's starts last year from the "Blame Griffin" bunch, but in no way will they apply the same even handed approach to Griffin.
Seattle will destroy Cousins. My prediction for the balance of what I hope will be Cousins time starting is:

Giants- W (this is a hope because there are a lot of key guys injured not sure how this works out on a short week)
Seahawks - L (I hope this doesn't get ugly)
Cardinals - L (though I hope I'm wrong because we can't afford to lose too many NFC games)
Titans - W
Dallas - W
Vikings - W
Bye

My suspicion is that the earliest we'll get our starting QB back is for the Tampa Bay game after the Bye. A 4-3 record (well, 5-3 actually, including Jacksonville) would be a pretty damn good scenario in my book. Also, that's 3-3 in the NFC, 2-1 in NFC East. Not too shabby and I'm hopeful that the defense and heavy reliance on the running game give us a surprise win in either NFC west game.

Man, sucks to have the Seahawks and Cardinals back to back like that. We really need a win this Thursday night, and that's no guarantee at all with the Giants.

Yeah I'm willing to throw out Cousins' mediocre performance last year. It wasn't a fair assessment of what he's capable of. (Much like his performance in the 2d and 3d quarters of the preseason. lol.)

I think its pointless and irritating for people to be cherry picking the stats that prove their point about which QB is better. I really don't think we've seen either guy get a truly fair shake at this point. Even the 2012 team that Griffin did well with had some issues IMO. Not sure why we can't give these guys some time to play this year and see who can get it done.
