Hopefully, not for 4-6 weeks. Cousins is the starter for now. I would hope that everyone can support him while he fills that role. But, I expect certain posters here (cough cough OldSchool cough) to be calling for McCoy in the next few weeks.

4-6 weeks??????

If RGIII needs surgery, it's 4-6 MONTHS. Without, it can be around 12 weeks.

Since we are in week 2 and it won't be until week 14 that RGIII will return, his season is most likely done. Cousins is the starter for the remainder of the season and, now that RGIII has been hurt in 50% of his NFL seasons, potentially beyond.

I will leave my comments as to Cousin's play out of this, but a good deal of people are going to say RGIII is done at this point. I personally will wait until I read the full injury report, but it isn't looking good for his future as an NFL player.

And LOVE your OldSchool McCoy comment. Nice.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

What I meant was when/if Griffin were to return this year.

If the Redskins are sitting at 6-2 or 7-1, and Cousins is flashing a 90 QBR... there will be no split.

Yeah I totally agree man. I'm an RGIII supporter. I think he would have had an equally great day yesterday, and I was pulling for him to have a great season. feel terrible for the guy getting injured again yesterday, especially on such a freak play.

Bottom line though is Cousins has a chance to come in and play now without any controversy. He has my COMPLETE support, and I hope he kills it this season and forces the Redskins to make a tough decision.

Like Countertrey just wrote, if Cousins is winning games and looking good, I don't think there will be any split at all. Fans want to WIN!!!

hah. Who started this thread? Man, this may have been one of the most ill-timed, ill advised threads ever. Ugh, sorry StorminMormon. Between this and your "John Beck Should Start" stuff a few years ago, I'm starting to wonder about you...! :)

Kidding, man!!!

I do feel like an idiot now.

But this thread was more of a frustration that everyone has got to be in the mindset of "Cousins vs. Griffin", instead of supporting both. Not that having 2 good QB's on your roster is a bad thing, but the talk was tiring.

I agree. I felt the same way, it's not that we have 2 qualitity qbs. Its the noise. Good luck cousins hold the Redskins untill Robert eventually returns.

Frankly, I think we STILL have two capable quarterbacks on our active roster able to suit up and play.
Colt McCoy is no Colt Brennan.

Now this I do agree with. I am a huge RGIII fan and a huge Cousins fan. Both are great and I'm really happy that Kirk is here to play while RGIII is hurt.

I'm all of that and a Redskins fan, too. And tired of people who act like being a fan of RGIII means you aren't fundamentally a Redskins fan, or that you can't like Cousins too, or any combination of those three things.

haha. Don't man, I understand what the point of the thread was. The title just struck me as hilarious this morning. And I think a lot of of people are tired of the Cousins v Griffin stuff.

Thanks guys... I guess THIS is the thread I needed to be in.
Im a fan of both... will defend both.. and wish nothing but the best for both. People delighted in Roberts injury- wearing the same colors as me makes me sick to my stomach. The same people who i was high fiving on week 17 2012 after our nfc east championship victory (as a 29 yr old its the closest thing to a sb I can actually remember- vague memorues of 91 not counting).. the people who were on the rg3 bus who are so quick to *sh$t* on him after all he has done- including sacrificing his body for this team just thoroughly piss me off.

It was a freak accident. We have Cousins, whom I fully support and hope he is the next Brady, and when Robert returns- we will cross that road when we get there.

This post, along with the others from today, is all over the place and im not able to articulate very well.. this is a mans board so feelings are left at the door, but the devastation of seeing him go down in that fashion, the fright not knowing what or how bad- thne the pride watching the next man up and hope that we will still be contenders back to the anger and disbelief of the rg-hater-trolls foaming at the mouth with glee.. has me feeling bipolar and out of sorts.

I've always been a huge Cousins fan. But I was also aware of the fact that the only way he was ever going to get an opportunity to start for this team was if Griffin got hurt. Now is his chance, I hope he makes the best of it, and I hope we can compete for the division. We'll worry about the other stuff later. Right now we just need to win games. And I think we can.

S-Morm.. I just read the title and saw 6 pages of comments so I'm sure all bases were covered. Being that as it may let me just throw my penny in.. no, it was not a mistake.
