Is it too early for predictions for the Houston opener?
I sure hope (and would love it if) I am wrong ...
Houston 27
Washington 20
Redskins D plays pretty good but 3 turnovers by RG3 (2 ints and 1 fumble) lead to 17 Houston points and the skins lose a close one.

Re: Is it too early for predictions for the Houston opener?
Seriously. Dude's not just going to predict the score. He's predicting the number of turnovers and the exact method. (He forgot to mention that RGIII's fumble comes when the guard steps back on to Griffin's foot and he trips and drops the ball.)
2 INTs and a fumble, eh? Texans have some good players on defense, so its possible I guess.
Not sure I buy Deadskins prediction, but I like his optimism. People are making way too much out of the RGIII/preseason stuff.

I think the Redskins find a way to win - the Texans have a decent defense, they are playing at home, but ...
The Redskins defense and Special teams play well and the offense does not cost us this game

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Vegas has TEX -2.5 meaning we are -0.5 on a neutral field.
I'd like to win the toss and defer (until I just read Hocker is on the way out).
Let's bottle up Foster and make TEX one-dimensional.
Redskins 20, Houston 16.

Re: Is it too early for predictions for the Houston opener?
When we were heading to New Orleans, people literally said it was crazy to think the Skins could win.
I like our odds in Houston more than our 2012 opener. Could be a nail-biter either way.
I'm not too worried about Foster. I think he's not going to be game-ready come week one. Think Clinton Portis c. 2009.
Skins to win. Score somewhere in the mid-20s to low-30s for both teams.

Don't you think that the race card is difficult to play in this case since I absolutely love Alfred Morris (his character, his team first attitude, and the way he plays). And my favorite Redskins of all time are Darrell Green, Art Monk, Monte Coleman, and Doc Walker. And one of my favorite Redskins QB's of all time is Doug Williams. (And I feel sick to my stomach about the skins cutting Seastrunk -- who I think looks like the RB game breaker the skins need). Since you brought it up, maybe you have an issue around race? That issue doesn't even enter my head -- it's a total non-factor and doesn't even register to me.

You sound awfully defensive... and going to lengths to paint a picture of what you arent saying is at least a little suspect dont you think? Ftr I never once mentioned you in any of my posts... just sayin
*Id have to certainly agree with all the redskins greats you mentioned... with the only difference being Doug Williams. With the exception of one quarter of one game he was mediocre at best- sprinkles of decent and good in the same super bowl season when called upon. Not knocking the guy he led us to the promised land, but his light faded qyick it seems.
*Seastrunk is definitely a practice squad hopeful. His blocking needs to improve drastically- even if you watch the td catch and run you will see he blatantly missed a blitzing lb or de letting him barrel down on the qb untouched. He also has a knack he really needs to break of doing everything he can to get to the sideline before turning it up field. Both are areas he can improve on, cus that speed we saw is a threat.
People (not saying you, again none of my previous posts have ever mentioned you) question Bobs ability to process and have said he doesnt posses the smarts to read a D and the other mental aspects of being a qb in control. I brought up race because its the only way i can see someone making a statement knocking Griffs smarts, due to the man graduating early and completing his degree a year quicker then the average person does whilst putting in work on the field and in the gym.

Re: Is it too early for predictions for the Houston opener?
I honestly don't know any football fans that care about race. As a matter of fact, sports is one venue where I believe there is just no racism anymore, anywhere. Every sports fan I ever met just want their teams to do well, and couldn't care less about the shade of someones skin -- everyone cares more about 40 times, strength, skill level, and how they play.
Now back in the 1940's and 1950's that might have been an issue, and I think the redskins were the last NFL team to integrate (am I right?) but I was born in 1957 and didn't become a sports fan until 1969 (Vince Lombardi's first year as coach). Back then I adored Charlie Taylor and Larry Brown (and even Charlie Harraway was cool).
I bet if you polled all sports fans, they might fail a test when asked what is the race of all the members of their team. Who even thinks about that? Who cares? Nobody. They just want the players to play well and their team to win.
I think that sports did more to further equality and destroy racism than any other venue.
In any case, in terms of QB's taken in the 2012 draft. I think Russell Wilson is the man, I love his character and the way he plays (smart) -- and how I wish the Skins had taken him in the 3rd round instead of Josh Leribeus, who has always looked just marginal to me. I like Russell Wilson even more than Andrew Luck.

You need to do more research on Wilson if you think he has good character.

I'm extremely worried about RG3 against the Texans pass rush. Their D-line is scary and RG3 has looked really bad at times against a good pass rush. Watt probably will swat a few balls down too.

This probably belongs in another thread but that what threads do ... unravel and branch out.
Before the 2012 draft I asked several dozen people where I work if they wanted Luck of Griff. The only ones who said Luck were white and many of the blacks gave me what I'll call a "knowing wink and grin" when they said Griff.
I'm not calling any of them racists but I am convinced race was a factor in some of the responses I got.
Just sayin.

Honestly, I don't think people dislike RGIII because of his race, but I think he's probably judged differently by some fans because of it. I'm not surprised that some fans are more comfortable with a guy like Kirk Cousins who just looks the part they've always been used to seeing.
There's a long history of successful black running backs, so saying "I love Alfred Morris" isn't really a fair comparison. The "black QB"s are still out there proving themselves and I would argue that they're held to a higher standard.
Just go out there and win some games this season. ALL of the fans will love RGIII.

At some point, you have to let the seventies and eighties go and stop beating that drum. I don't see any evidence black quarterbacks get any less love. At some point people being self congratulatory about their lack of caring of the color of a quarterback's skin becomes the problem and not the solution, an effort to keep it alive. The idea is not a declaration of not caring, the ideal is not caring. Maybe we're there, maybe we're not. I think we are. I don't see anyone caring about Griffin being black, and that I'm sure somewhere there are still beer swilling rednecks who do care doesn't change that.
I think Griffin is going to come out on fire, it'll be a tight first half, but we'll win in the end by a couple touchdowns, 30-16.

Re: Is it too early for predictions for the Houston opener?
I see a very conservative game plan, lots of running the ball and passing limited mostly to screens etc of different varieties. The game will be won on defense.
Skins 10 (maybe 6) Houston 3
Itll be a low scoring battle in the pits and our defense will prevail moreso than the offense.
The unk-unks are special teams play, that might be a problem.
