First roster cuts to 75.. surprise?

Post by cowboykillerzRGiii »

The Washington Redskins on Sunday announced its initial cuts to the team's 90-man roster, ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET league deadline to trim rosters to 75.

Those waived were:

FB Stephen Campbell
WR Cody Hoffman
LB Jeremy Kimbrough
WR Rashad Lawrence
S Ross Madison
DE Jake McDonough
LB Adrian Robinson
DE Jeremy Towns

The Redskins also announced that they have released LB Rob Jackson.!

The team also placed TE Mike Caussin on its Reserve/Injured list.

Some mock ups of the 53 had Rob being the odd man out... I guess getting better and adding depth means u start cutting good players. Ill never forget the INT to seal the deal vs the pukes and win the NFC East crown in 2012!

I haven't heard of any of those people outside of Rob Jackson. The name Adrian Robinson sounds vaguely familiar, though it doesn't quite ring a bell. He may have been spotlighted making a block on special teams or something. Good luck to your future, Rob Jackson! I hope you get signed with another team, and make some more game-winning INTs.

Someone will snatch Rob up... And will be rewarded with quality play.
This was a great situation for the REDSKINS to be in. Sucks, though, when you have to cut quality.

What was the story with Rob Jackson btw? He had tested the FA market this spring and ended up resigning here?

Is Adrian Robinson a possible practice squad guy? He's one of the few guys on that list that stood out over those three preseason games.

It seems like that's why we cut him now, to give him the best chance to find a good spot. The only risk in doing that is injuries, but it was the decent thing to do if the coaches had decided.

I'm shocked by the Rob Jackson cut. He's been nothing but solid when he's been in the game and I thought he and Murphy would have the backup spots locked up. A better all-around LB than Orakpo in my opinion, just not as good of a pass rusher. He'll do well elsewhere.

Who bumped him off the depth chart? I'm not that familiar with our OLB depth.

I think it's as simple as 1. He is nowhere near as good as orakpo (so wasn't gonna start in place of him) and 2. He didn't play special teams. If even one of those things were different, I bet he's still here. His replacement is probably a combo of inside guy that plays teams and Trent Murphy?
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Not to mention the fact that he was a free agent over the summer and no one signed him. That tells me he is not as great as some make him out to be. He was a career backup on some very bad/mediocre defenses and made a few plays in 14 games when he subbed for Orakpo. That does not scream irreplaceable to me. And he doesn't play special teams.

Ty sir..
Ross isnt a surprise, but he showed some speed on his back to back big plays.. punt return followed by big catch and run. Wonder if he goes to ps or gets picked up

I think COMPTON takes 1 of the LB spots....

I agree on that. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was in the last round. I guess there are guys they want to evaluate more.

Really disappointed that we cut Rob Jackson. He seemed like an upgrade over Orakpo at points during RG3's rookie year.

that's just not true - maybe you felt like that but most people with any sense at all did not
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

People always mention the 2 or 3 ints that Jackson had to point to the fact he is sooo much better than Orakpo, but fail to mention those were about the only plays he made.

Don't get me wrong, appreciate his play when he took over for Brian, he worked hard and all that, but people acting like this is the stupidest thing we could have done is a little over the top.
