Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

Were Colbert an equal opportunity slam artist, I would concur... but he's not... and it is what it is. The result is, I see little quality in anything that he does. His schtick is old, predictable, strained, and boring. I see "Colbert"... I think "meh".

Fair enough. I'm not really a big Colbert fan myself even though I thought that tweet was funny.

We'll see how it plays out though. If that sort of eye rolling, mocking reaction to what Snyder did this week takes hold, I'd argue that his letter won't have completely squashed the anti-name crowd like you seem to be saying. If it becomes something that is widely mocked like this, it can just as easily have the opposite effect.

As is apparent, all mockers are currently on the fringe... I don't see much likelihood that this will become "widely" an issue...

I am actually surprised how much of an issue this is already. It is odd that all of a sudden this is prima facie racist and a caricature. Regardless of your typical political leanings or the degree of mainstream acceptability of some one like Colbert, which is is a separate issue, the name debate just feels like it's come from out of left field.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

+1

My thoughts to the critics are: Keep your mouth shut unless you're doing more for Native Americans than what Snyder is doing with this org. Otherwise, you are, by definition, a hypocrite.

Providing basic human needs > changing the name of a football team that majority of Native Americans are ok with anyway.

Having watched a few Braves games in Atlanta, where the announcers think the "chop" is just as cute as a corn fritter, and as much as it pained me when I re-watched the original "Lone Ranger" and the bad guys said to Tonto, "Get out of here you dirty redskin", I sincerely think the Atlanta Braves have been more guilty of "racial offense" than the Redskins. Notice that the Redskins modified the "fake-injun" talk in Hail to the Redskins. Did it before "the chop" became popular.
