Is Bacarri Rambo a lost cause?
Hog's Haven is running a nice series on this.

Good breakdowns using all-22 film.
Short answer: no, he doesn't seem to be a lost cause at all.

Just needs some time and he'll be fine.

+1 - Rambo was not given enough time to make the transition - he will benefit from all that happened in 2013
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I don't know if he is starter material or not, but I think most of us would agree its unfair and unwise to completely judge him on his experience being thrown in the fire last year.

Uh-huh. Yep.
Irn, great post, thanks for those links.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

I'm sure, if given the opportunity, he will end up at least as good as Reid Daughty, but probably better. I would still take him over Madoodoo Williams, on a heartbeat.

Took the words right out of my mouth!!
I think everyone is spot on... he was thrown into a starting roll when he shoulve been getting occasional playing time while being coached up. So long as his confidence and his will hasn't been broken (judging from how he ended the season I'd say he is fine) he has a ton of upside. I still have high hopes for the kid- a camo Rambo jersey is just Waaaay to sweet!!!!!!

We just spent how much money on a WR who has talent but, off field issues? Why don't we apply the same thought process to Rambo? Look at his on field resume at Georgia. The addition of Ryan Clark could be huge with the development of Bicarri. Santana, as well, with Desean.

Top stuff.
Summed up with; "He wasn't known for his tackling coming out of college, he looked better in pre-season than he did in college, he looked better in Week 1 than he did in pre-season and looked better later in the year than in Week 1."
The next installment should be that he looks better after a 2nd off season than late last season. More familiar with the system, his role, and his place in the NFL will give him much needed confidence. Sporadic appearances this season together with mentoring from Ryan Clark and who knows, could be a starting calbre safety by 2015.

The guy was a sixth round pick. I'd be happy if he can at least contribute on special teams this year.

Good post, Irn, thanks for linking the articles.
He was a 6th round draft pick. You end up being a 6th round pick because you're either not very talented, or you need to develop. In either case, you shouldn't be a day 1 starter in the NFL. The fact that he was starting day 1 was an indictment on the talent level of our defense, and absolutely should not have been a referendum on him and his future in the NFL.

Ditto great post Irn. But I dont care I dont give any players a pass. Perform when you step on the field.
That being said I do hope he continues to develop as a player. Our whole defense played terribly last year. So I wont single him out.
Oh I am glad Josh Wilson is gone. He was a bum.

He showed enough to wind up starting. Even though he stank it up, he showed flashes. I think he'll turn out to be a solid backup player and occasional starter due to injury some day. Definitely not a lost cause.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

Re: Is Bacarri Rambo a lost cause?
As I said last fall, I don't know if he WILL step up, or not... but I do know that last season was a set-up for him. I think he has the skills to start... but needs proper seasoning. Asking him to step in and start from game one was totally unfair to the kid.
Fortunately, I think he has the mind-set to bounce back, as he demonstrated with his play at the end of the season. With a name like Rambo, dude's gotta be ballin'...

True, though he dropped purportedly for off field issues, which is probably why he's judged more harshly. Still as you say, he was a sixth round pick. I didn't think he has that bad for a rookie, but he certainly needs to show progress this year.
Hail to the Redskins!
