Mara Bowl - Weather Updates

Post by DarthMonk »

What is your ideal scenario for next year's Super Bowl? In case you didn't know, Feb. 2, 2014, would be the date for the outdoor Super Bowl in East Rutherford, N.J.

I'd love to be in it but, if we're not, this might be nice:

Us beating the Giants at MetLife for the NFC then beating, say the Patriots (or Broncos) for the Big Game. Winning the final 2 at Mara's stadium?

Hmmmmm, strange how the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl goes to the Giants.....

Must be because they have a nice new stadium.

Hey, didn't we get a nice new stadium a little while back....???

Oh, but why would they want to play the big game in the nation's capital...???

I suppose there must be a perfectly good Mara, I mean reason, why it went to NY..

I don't care about hosting a SB. If we aren't playing in it, I don't want it near me.

Ideally... it would be a prefect day for football, with the local team getting blown out by the Skins, This would be proceeded by the other local team taken a nose dive early in the season and finished 4th in the NFCE

It would be great if some confluence of events forced Mara to present the Danny with the Lombardi Trophy.

Could anyone photoshop that one up for me?

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Farmers' Almanac is using words like "piercing cold," "bitterly cold" and "biting cold" to describe the upcoming winter. And if its predictions are right, the first outdoor Super Bowl in years will be a messy "Storm Bowl."

The 197-year-old publication that hits newsstands Monday predicts a winter storm will hit the Northeast around the time the Super Bowl is played at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Mara is a cheat. But I think this was decided shortly after 9/11 and the Giants needed to build the new stadium.

Super Bowl Saturday? If the idea of Super Bowl XLVIII being played a day earlier than Sunday, Feb. 2, or even the next evening, seems preposterous, it could happen if a massive snow storm is forecasted for northern New Jersey that weekend.

NFL officials on Wednesday conceded that contingency plans call for the championship game to be played at any point between Friday, Jan. 31 and Monday, Feb. 3 at MetLife Stadium.

Super Bowl forecast: Snow plus temps in 20s

The first forecast for Super Bowl Sunday has been released, and it's currently calling for a high of 35 degrees and a 30 percent chance of snow.

According to Weather.com, snow showers are possible and temperatures will range from 25 to 35 degrees. The Broncos and Seahawks will kick off at 6:30 PM ET, so they'd likely be playing in temperatures in the 20s. Wind isn't expected to be a factor; it's projected to be blowing around 8 MPH. Of course, we're ten days away from the big game, which leaves plenty of time for change. The NFL has previously said that if a winter storm is expected, the game could be moved to Saturday, Monday, or Tuesday. Worst-case scenario would be for Super Bowl to be pushed back to February 9. We're not at that point.

does anyone know when the call is made for a change?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Weather is a fickle thing. It's about as easy to predict as the stock market. So no surprise, Monday brings a much different viewpoint for the weather during Super Bowl XLVIII than the weekend did. Now all of a sudden "mostly clear" is in play.

The Weather Channel, with less than a week remaining until the game kicks off, has SUN showing on Super Bowl Sunday and -- unlike this past Sunday -- a very minimal chance of precipitation for the game.

Even the winds are looking kind of wimpy at 5 mph.

It's unlikely the Seahawks actually care about what the weather is, although their style of play would theoretically work better in the elements, at least against the Broncos. Peyton Manning should be jumping up and down, though. This sort of forecast favors him tremendously.

Weather Underground is featuring a similar forecast. Highs of 37 for Sunday along with a low (20 percent) chance of rain or snow? The 10 mph winds are a little different from above but that's still basically nothing.

There have been many NFL Championship games played in horrendous winter weather... It's about time the Super Bowl was played where it might have an impact...

OK - let me see ...

which QB do I want 'managing the game' no matter what the weather is, Peyton Manning or Russell Wilson?

that's a really hard choice

no matter what the weather is on Sunday, which QB is going to be able to make the right call at the line of scrimmage, Peyton Manning or Russell Wilson?

that's another really hard choice

If one team is trailing in the 4th quarter, which QB has the best chance of taking the offense down the field, Peyton Manning or Russell Wilson?

hmmm, let me think about that for a while ...

Patriots v Giants - another example of the better team losing - it happens

the Seahawks could win the game but they are not 'better' than the Broncos - If the Seahawks were the better team they would be 'favored'

most every analyst is looking for ways that the Seahawks could 'upset' the Broncos - almost nobody thinks the Seahawks win this game if they both play well

the weather is looked at and 'analyzed' from the aspect of how does it hurt the Broncos and help the Seahawks - why not the other way around?
