What we can do for Jansen
Hey all you die hard Skins fans,
Last night I watched the game and I'm sure like everyone else took a blow last night when Jansen got hurt. Immediately I started thinking what are we going to do without him, and how's our season going to be now, and then today I woke up and really thought about it.
This is a guy who has spent the last five years of the game loving football, loving the game, and working as hard as he could for the Redskins and to be a Redskin. We all saw how bad the line had it last year, and Jansen arguing with Spurrier to run it more on the sideline that one game. He knew the history of Washington, and I'm sure when Gibbs came back with Bugel there was no one who knew more about what that meant to the town then he did. He's got to be really hurting right now.
So let's show him what it really means to be a Redskin, like in the old days. Is there any way that we can tell everyone we know in time for our next game against Carolina to show some support for the Jon? What I'd like to see is all the fans shout out "Jansen" a few dozen times right before the game is about to start. Like right before the coin toss. If we can tell enough people in time think of what a show of support it would be from us to Jansen, and to the team, and to show everyone what it really means to be a Washington Redskin and to have fans like us.
Let me know what you guys think, and if you've got family or friends going to the Carolina game tell them "Right before the coin toss, just start shouting all together 'Jansen' over and over." Let the guy and the team know that we're always there for them. Thanks fans.

OK,3 posts in a row. Too many. I just emailed the guy and let him know that
thehog.net want to let him know that we appreciate everything that Jansen's done for us over the years.
You guys email him also so that there is more of a demand for this to be published. If there are more people, then it will happen.

Hello Anthony, thanks so much for writing and for reading my articles.
I'll tell you what. If you guys come up with something you definitely
plan
to do - unveil a sign, do a certain chant at a set time to get Jon's
attention/salute him, or something like that, I will get it in the
paper.
I would need something kind of firm, because if I just write that some
fans
want to cheer for Jansen and it is really vague, I can assure you my
editors will cut it out of the paper.
But if I say that a group from a certain website plan to do something
set
at a particular time - before the game, half time, whatever - I think
it
would have a better shot of getting in. The better the idea, the more
likely it won't get edited out.
How's that sound? You guys still have like three days to settle on
something, and please let me know the outcome. I'd be glad to help.
Thanks again for taking the time to write.
I'm not going to be at the game this weekend so, if you guys who are going. This could really help. Also, this could get thehogs.net in the paper.

Nice work Frank! I also have a contact at Sportstalk980. Maybe I can get the word to him to see if we can get it on the radio.
Now for the brainstorming.... What to chant?
JANSEN
JANSEN RULES
WE WANT JANSEN
GET WELL ROCK
any other ideas?

I think the sign idea would be good. Also combined with some chants. Definatly talk to your friend on the Radio station and get him to maybee put in a word. The main thing is we need to get as much exposure as possible. One thing that the site administrators should consider is that if they supply tshirts then a lot of exposure.

I would say... if you really wanted have this succeed.... really... you need to get a piece of cardboard with "Cheer for Jansen" or something catchy... and walk around the parking lot prior to the game... and explain to everyone you come in contact with on how this guy gave us 6 years of his blood, sweet, and tears.... and it's time he got his thanks... especially when he's at his all time low right now....
You don't have to talk to everyone... but if you let everyone know that prior to the game.... is when you will do your Jansen chant.... then I'm sure enough people will respond.... and the rest who you didn't talk to... will catch on quick and follow along...
Just my 2 cents...

Who knows. I'm depending on you guys. I live in Los Angeles and i'm not going to be at the game. If you all did something like that i have a feeling that you'll make more than just the Wash. Post. I think i'll see it on Sports Center. Maybee thehogs.net can pick up the tab on the banner. It will be advertising. Saying something like, "the guys at thehogs.net want to wish Jon Jansen a speedy recovery. Thanks for all the hard work." I dont know, just something along that line. We need to get this going though. If we tell them before hand then you guys will be on TV, Radio, and ESPN. I'm sure of it, and they way i can see it, its free advertising for whoever pays for the banner.

Whatever you all do, brothers, keep this in mind regarding banner rules at FedEx:
From redskins.com:
While you wouldn't be advertising the site per se, I wouldn't want y'all to make a sign if it won't be displayed. But, definitely cheer your heads off!!!
From redskins.com:
Banners are permitted at FedExField; however, Guests may not display banners that advertise or mention products or services. Banners may not cover existing FedExField equipment or signage. Signs may not be made with metal or wood. Management reserves the right to remove any sign, including those deemed to be obscene, inappropriate or which obstructs the view of other Guests.

If they did it through the radio station, they could let the radio station booth know and when all the people go by there they'll let them know. I'm just trying to get the exposure for the chant.
Yes. I didn't so much mean for advertising as much as a way to get the word out.

Jansen is on helluva guy as well as football player. It must be killing him inside to have this happen to him. I am one of the main ones always arguing with you guys about judging a player before you even know them, but I will go out on the limb here and be a hypocrit and say I think Jansen is good guy, a great team leader and a very important part of the Skins. With that said, I wish him the best of luck in his recovery.

Before we get too organized here, we should make sure that the Boss man is OK with this. We are putting theHogs.net out there, and it's ultimately BossHog's butt on the line.

You guys are great. I typed this last night, woke up and went to work this morning, and look at it now. I think the "get well rock" chant would work great, as well as just the Jansen name. Let's ask if we can start a new post and keep it up so everyone can see it, with the name of the chant at the top so everyone knows what we're doing and when we're doing it. Maybe Bosshog or some of the big guys can get this going.
What a way to show Jansen what he means to the Redskins and what being a fan is really like.
I'm writing the Post too. I like the idea of "get well Rock", that will sound great at the stadium. everyone keep emailing the Post and ask them to put it in the paper for people to bring signs saying "Get well Rock" and to start shouting it right before the coin toss.
Redskins1974 we'll be coutning on you and whoever else is going to the game to put the word out before the game. Grab a piece of carboard and write it on there if you can.
Jansenfan if you can keep knocking on Sportstalk980 that would be great. And frankcal20 with the post.
Everyone reading this take a second and hit up the WP (link up top on page 1) to put the article in and Tell Everyone you can. Bosshog, Jake, all you guys if you can help out on this it would be great.
Thanks for helping out and being great fans guys. It's times like these that make being a Washington Fan great.
(And thanks gambit too)
