2) My primary concern is that the team wins, but why can't I have both? I'm actually going to this game (I live in Atlanta) and this would be my first chance to see RGIII live. I've looked forward to this game since the schedule came out that it was here and not at FedEx. So sue me if I'm disappointed that Shanny is being vindictive and sitting RGIII so he can get fired and still get his $7 million.

1) Theismann's quote hardly shows a consensus opinion that he should be benched, unless you think he's saying every QB should be benched after they make mistakes that lose a game. And you said former and current players agree. Where are these current players that agree. Anyway, two former players don't make a consensus. There are thousands of former Redskins, and I bet many would disagree that he should be benched.
2) I wouldn't believe anything Shanny says at this point. When the Danny comes out and confirms he agreed that RGIII should sit, then I will eat crow. Right now, I see this as Shanny trying to get Danny to fire him. It has nothing to do with protecting Robert.

Snyder has a track record of openly and arrogantly lying to the press and public. One striking example was a few years ago when he took Redskins One to Denver to convince Shanny to take over the team right then and there. Peter King called Vinny Cerrato on his cell phone during the meeting and Cerrato said, "I don't know what you're talking about; we're all at the stadium right now." Then the Skins put out an official lie that the plane had been booked by some other person for use that weekend. Another whopper that comes to mind is when Snyder/Cerrato talked about how Zorn had just impressed his way into the coaching job, when it was clear he really was an emergency backup once they realized they were never going to get a viable candidate after hiring offensive/defensive coordinators for him (and not having a proper GM).

It doesn't bother Snyder to say something outright false when it suits his intentions, especially when it means covering his tracks in a plan that is less than honorable (like sneaking around trying to replace a coach that you are dying to fire, instead of just firing him and being open about it).

Does Shanahan have any story you can call to our attention that can compete with that level of dishonesty? I don't have one. So yes, I do cut him a little more slack right now and don't assume the worst: I don't assume he must be the leak, I don't assume his benching Griffin is some kind of "all in" poker play, etc. It's too easy to turn on Shanahan because he's been unsuccessful this year and is likely out the door in a few weeks. I am open to being corrected, but I just don't see the rat everyone keeps talking about.

Mike has watched both in practice and if he felt that Kirk might be the better QB he would have pulled Robert sooner

I think this is brilliant by Shanahan. He's completely shifted the conversation to be about RG3, RG3's "special relationship" with Snyder, and how it undercuts the team. It's all about how that's why this team is failing.

No longer do we have to hear about a defense that has given up more points than any other team in the NFL this year, or a special teams unit that is the worst I can ever remember seeing. We don't have to hear about Haslett, or Keith Burns, or any other coaching hire made by Shanahan (like Bob Slowik, coaching the linebackers...a kinda important job in the 3-4...even though he's never coached linebackers in the NFL before). No worries.

The team is 3-10 because of RG3 and Snyder. That is all.

I can't wait to see Gonzalez, Jackson, Ryan and White have career days against a Haslett Defense. I can't wait to see Osi and the rest of them Falcons sack Cousins 7 times all while Special Teams gives up another 10 -14 points. I hope RGIII is on the sideline laughing his butt off. I don't know if this has been said yet...but want to know why shanahan is sitting robert? apparently he wanted to walk end of last season, but rg3 was hurt and didn't want to leave on that note. so hes making sure he's not hurt and can leave at peace.
