Chargers @ Redskins - Game Day Thread

Post by DarthMonk »

Let's give these guys a long plane ride. We have a decent chance to start a 3-game win streak here.

We sure need a win. I think that we have to work Helu & Morris as much as possible. Sprinkle in some Reed & Garcon and we should be all set for a time consuming effective offensive set. Probably the most important thing to me will be actually scoring 7 vs 3 in the red zone. I'm not too worried about our defense as they've been playing really good lately.

The Redskins’ defense enters this game having scored a league-leading five touchdowns in seven games. With a touchdown today, this unit would become the fourth in team history (1971, 1973, 1984) to score six in one season.

Washington has forced at least one turnover in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season. Another today would mark the team’s longest streak since a 12-game run that began in Week 14 of the 1999 season and extended until Week 8 of the 2000 campaign.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall has scored a team-record three defensive touchdowns this season (one fumble recovery, two interceptions). If Hall were to return a fumble for a touchdown today, he would become the first player in NFL history to have at least five fumble returns for touchdowns and five interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Linebacker London Fletcher will play in his league-leading 248th consecutive regular season game – the longest record by a defensive player since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger.

Fletcher will make his 207th consecutive regular season start and pull within a game of tying Derrick Brooks’ record of 208 consecutive starts – the most by a linebacker in NFL history.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan needs two sacks to match his single-season career high of 8.5. He would tie Wilber Marshall for 10th most in franchise history (24.5).

Wide receiver Santana Moss needs two catches to pass Gary Clark (549) for third place on the team’s list of career receptions as a Redskins player.
Moss needs one reception become the ninth active player to reach 700 for his career.

Tight end Jordan Reed enters the game with 34 receptions and needs four more to surpass Stephen Alexander (1998) and Chris Cooley (2004) for the team record for receptions in a season by Redskins rookie.

IMO The biggest hurdle for the Skins offense today will be facing the Chargers redzone defense. They are tough to score on.

I kind of feel good that the ESPN guys all picked against us. Most of the NFL Network guys and CBS guys too.

If RG III is accurate, this game is far different than the talking heads think.

We're in a tight spot. Roll out RG III and let him get what he can. Don't risk a holding penalty in the end zone for a Safety.
