Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

It may take a little work to the logo but its definitely better than "Bravehearts" or "Braves" on any of the others I have heard.

I know - it does not end in an "s". Is that a rule?

No rule on the "s."

Braves is the name the franchise started with (I think). Logo would not have to change ... nor would the fight song.

Here is an idea! Give the bird to the NFL, and realize that the Skins Franchise has the right under the law to be called what ever they wish. This story is dead! Redskins will not change their name. I think if they keep up with this Bulls&*% that Snyder should move the Skins out of Washington taking his multiple millions with him. We can be the Richmond Redskins! This entire conversation about name changing is retarded!

Give me a freaking break. 1) Its not just one guy asking for a name change. 2) There is little doubt that guy is a native american whatever his "tribe" may be. 3) I won't post articles from dailykos as legitimate "news" if you can refrain from citing articles from rightwingnutballnews.com.

We have the best team song in all of sports. How about Snyder cuts a deal to donate x% or $x to the American Indian College Fund for as long as the name stands. That would certainly be of more value to native Americans than getting rid of an archaic racial slur that nobody has used as a slur in a hundred+ years. It would also certainly back up claims that the name "Redskins" is intended to honor those people.

Seriously, if Snyder changed the name tomorrow, is it really a big win for anybody? Who?

I really do NOT see the name being changed in the next few years - Snyder is the ONLY one that can and IMO he's not doing that in the near future

I am resigned to the fact that the 'story' and the rumors are going to persist but the NFL will NOT force Snyder to change the name in the near future ... if at all :D

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I pretty much agree. The noise around the name debate this year is weird though.

I think it's a desperation move by the opposition. Their court case has all but been completely rejected, and they have nowhere else to turn.

That's probably true, but for a desperation move they've definitely kept it pretty high profile this season. I always kind of remember the protests around the name being completely on the fringe. There is a lot more of the national media out there against the name now for whatever reason.

Most of it is a smear campaign by the media. They're experts in making mountains out of ant hills and making the world believe its really a huge issue.

I think a big factor contributing to the protest right now is social media. In years past, social media did not exist. Now, not only do sites like Facebook and Twitter give anyone and everyone a soapbox to stand on, most news sources look to social media for their "news" or to see what stories are #trending.
