Washington Bravehearts...
I hate it...
Screw this crap about "Redskins" being discriminatory...
Keep the name...who will make Snyder change it?
1) American Indians -- a lot of them like it.
2) Obama -- he's not capable of much else.
3) Congress -- they couldn't agree on this either
4) Goodell -- maybe the other owners would cave to some pressure.
5) Fans -- If you root for the Redskins, you like it. If you root for another team, you think it should be changed...
Keep it as is!

Right now, I hate this new name idea. Not on board at all.
But I suppose at the end of the day, it could be worse.

I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

hah. Snyder is vehemently denying any connection to that trademark.
Really my biggest concern if they were ever to change the name isn't that I would enjoy the team less or that it would ruin my memories of the team or anything like that. It just seems almost certain that the new name would be something horrible.

The only way I'll stop rooting for this team...is if they give us some lame-a$$ name like this.
I remember when they were changing the Bullets name and STILL think 'Wizards' was one of the worst.
And you know it'll happen. In this PC-obsessed world we'll wind up with some ridiculous name like the Washington Rainbows or something...

Well... how about the Hooligans?Hooligan wrote:They'd have to change the Raiders and Buccaneers, too. They're clearly endorsing criminal activity.

Well... yes... except that Hooligan is an Irish term, so it feeds an entire theme... we could plaster Leprechauns all over the logo, include a Shamrock somewhere on our new Kelly green and white unis, and endear our team to travelers across the world...1niksder wrote:Countertrey wrote:Well... how about the Hooligans?Hooligan wrote:They'd have to change the Raiders and Buccaneers, too. But most importantly... it would move us out of the realm of ethnic stereotypes.

It's the Onieda Indians' laywers causing the flack. Any group of people that make thier money from the #1 the government; #2 gambling & #3 tobacco products need to get thier own house in order before forcing others to do thier bidding.
If they were both serious and smart they'd sue Snyder for copyright infringement and demand 10% royality for the use of the 'Redskin' trademark and then look the other way.

I'd say being against #1 works against opposing #2 and #3.
Back on topic - horrible name choice if we end up changing. I could live with Braves.

I hate to post about this after that heartbreaking curbstomp by the Broncos, but I thought that you guys should read this article concerning the man screaming about the name change.
http://dailycaller.com/2013/10/14/docum ... z2iyBBjTBG
I personally just have two points to make about the name change, which is if you find yourself offended by a word, then you are a weak individual. You are not a word, you are a human. Act like one.
Another point is that many of the people clamoring for the name to change try to compare the name Redskins to "niggers." Here is the difference between the two: the term "nigger" is used to degrade black people. The word Redskins is used exclusively for the football team. No one has called a Native a "Redskin" in over a century.
But know this, they are also offended by the term Indian and Native "American."

I am with you but they are claiming the name evolved into a derogatory name. Not that it was ever a bad thing in the beginning. Never mind who this effects as far as money, children, food, health care or any of the effected. They don't matter.

If the team name changes, I will not only stop pulling for the team, I will start pulling for another team (or just stop watching the NFL entirely) and if I do see the "new team" play, I will pull for the OTHER team! It's a traitorous notion. Abandoning your identity to cater to another person's (or people's) inability to understand your identity is pitiful and does not deserve my support. Imagine if the actual Indian tribes the name DOES represent had capitulated like that? They would never be remembered as being dignified at all. Fortunately they never changed THEIR names.
