That one catch did not mean a thing. Champ stepped up when it was needed.

His "don't call nothin'on me if you ain't callin' nothin' on them" excuse was quite lame. He got burned on that play by our #2 guy.

How ironic... the guy gamby MOST likes to slag on... Lavar... is now his boy and the guy he'd build his team around. That's rich.

ROTFALMAO

Why do all of you people fall for such CowboySpeak?

For the record, I was at the game and I watched Champ get beat on the curl pattern... it was the only ball thrown in his direction as he was only in for set of downs or two.

Look at that shut down CB not shut anything down. :hmm:

For 9 million bucks a year, he better be willing to hit. My guess was that he figured he better do something after getting burnt so quickly and easily.

ROTFALMAO

The Broncos fan beside me actually said, 'I thought this guy was a shut down corner?'

So I told him he was... but not any more. ROTFALMAO

9 mill? ROTFALMAO

The Broncos kept lining him up on the opposite side of Coles... I guess they wanted to make sure that he could still blanket a #2 receiver.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Boss, since you were there, can you briefly (without starting new thread)give us a bit more insight on what led to Jansen's injury? ABC did a horrible job covering it. What was he doing before slumping to the ground? Had he shown any signs of fatigue before that? Was it just a freak injury or what?

What was fan reaction to the Bailey-Portis "match-up"? Bailey didn't look his best... He was wearing this hideous Blue/White/Orange uniform combo.

It was a freak injury. It was a pass play and the line took off running for down field blocking. The play was to the left side of the field so Jansen started running towards the left sideline. He collapsed. He tried to get up and immediately sat back down. Pure freak accident.

Go figure jansenFan has the jansen scoop. :-) And he's exactly right... total freak accident.

As for those around me and their opinion on the trade... well let's just say that I was doing a lot of laughing. Some of them seemed to know about the problems with Champ last year and were marginally concerned about it... most of them just had the homer opinion that they are entitled to and MOST said that they wish they hadn't given up Portis.

I didn't get the feeling that ANY of them felt they'd come out on the losing end of the deal though... and I think you'd get the same reaction from a similar cross section of Skins fans.

This trade was good for both teams.

But man was I yakking it up both when Springs made the INT and when Champ got burnt. In a sea of orange and blue, you could hear a long-haired Canadian yobo yelling Champ Who? ... and... wow, the food here in Canton is expensive, but look how much Denver paid for their hot dog... you know, stuff like that.

All in good fun. I was outnumbered heavily, so I felt the need to over-compensate slightly.

Free beer at the official NFL tailgating party didn't help much either.

I love Champ, Gambit, and if you think about it we did build it around him (indirectly). He brought us Portis in the long run and if Smoot continues to step up and Springs and Co. can fill his void to some degree, then we made all the right moves. It really sucked seeing him leave, but I think it will work out better for both teams, with neither having regrets.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.
