Colts trade 2014 1st-round pick to Browns for Trent Richards

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

I can't believe they gave up a first for him. Cleveland would have probably taken less.

Probably not. He's a franchise RB and they're playing to win now. The will monitor his carries but Cleveland isn't going to win anything right now. Jacksonville would be smart to trade MJD for anything. That poor guy has just rotted there and only gotten hurt because their team sucked so bad.

I think the Colts got swindled. Richardson has mostly underperformed when he has played, which isn't a whole lot. I don't think he carries a franchise anywhere.

So now the that Indy team (they're not the Colts) has the first and third overall pick in the 2012 draft (on either side of RG3).

Terrible move by the Colts. And you know the Browns will take this opportunity and squander it. All around, probably not a good deal.

Didn't the Browns trade the #4 pick, a 4 th, 5th, and 7th round pick. To go up one spot and take a guy then trade him a year later for what is sure to be a mid first round pick at best.

Something smells fishy. Either that or it is just the Browns being the Browns.

I like this move for the Colts.

Didn't the guy gain 1317 in 15 games with 11 TDs, no QB, and a crappy team? Also, his signing bonus is already paid and the Colts probably gave up pick #21 or later.

Now he's on a good team with a good QB and should only get better.

Of course, he's just a RB.

My 2 cents

You forgot to mention they went from #4 to #3 to get a guy that was going to be there at #4

That's not fish... whatever it is, it's coming from the Browns "Dog Pound" :?

I'm betting it's just the Browns being the Browns...
They replaced the #3 pick in last year's draft (18 pro games) with a guy that couldn't get a deal with the Gnats because of injury concerns that came up AFTER he took a physical with them.

Weren't Mike Lombardi and Vinny Cerato on the same staff with the 49ers? Third sounds like something Vinny would have done.

Absolutely impossible to assess how good Richardson is based on playing for the Browns...they have NO qb, no weapons on the outside, NO TE, very good OLT, average right of him, horrible management and coaching...on and on.

I've watched him run a number of times living up that way and I think this is a great move by the Colts. Takes pressure off Luck and allows them to minimize the hits their franchise QB takes. They wouldn't have gotten as good a RB at 20-24, wherever they'll end up in the draft in April.

It isn't fair to assess the move after one game either, they play at SF Sunday.

See what he does over the rest of the season...I'm guessing 1200-1400 yards??

+1...
This was a complete clown move by the Browns... but I simply don't get the hate the Colts are getting... Richardson is going to be a tank behind a quality O-line, and a coach who seems to know what he's doing with some serious weapons.
