Alright!!! I put on my optimistic preseason super fan hat and looked at the schedule again:

WIN - EAGLES (MNF 7pm)
LOSS - @Packers
WIN - LIONS
WIN - @Raiders
WIN - @Cowboys (SNF 8:30pm)
WIN - BEARS
LOSS - @Broncos
WIN - CHARGERS
WIN - @Vikings (THURS NITE)
WIN - @Eagles
LOSS - 49ERS (MNF)
WIN - GIANTS (SNF)
WIN - CHIEFS
LOSS - @Falcons
WIN - COWBOYS
LOSS - @GIants

I know we'll probably end up like losing to the Raiders and beating the Broncos or something. And I also have us pwning the Cowboys and Eagles this year. 11-5 sounds good to me either way.

11-5 either win the division or wildcard spot. Redskins will have at least 1 under dog win (Falcons) We played them close last year and Robert didn't play the full game. And 1 game they should have won game (Detroit)

Where did I write that we can't beat the Broncos, Packers or Falcons? I'm sure we'll beat a couple of those good teams and probably lose to a bad team along the way.

I just used the schedule to take my best guess at our record this year. Those are all good teams we have to play on the road, so I gave them the edge. Feel free to predict 16-0 yourself. This is my prediction.

Btw seems like a lot more optimism this year on the predictions. I'd be curious to pull up this topic from last summer.

The koolaid drinker in me says 13-3, but the realist whispers 11-5, NFCE repeat champs, AND a 1st rd bye (first since '91 IIRC).

- so there. :)

I only bumped the 2012 thread cuz someone was curious. Seems it took over.

Sep 9 Philadelphia 7:10 pm Win
Sep 15 @Green Bay 1:00 pm Loss
Sep 22 Detroit 1:00 pm Win
Sep 29 @Oakland 4:25 pm Win*
Week 5 BYE
Oct 13 @Dallas 8:30 pm Win*
Oct 20 Chicago 1:00 pm Win
Oct 27 @Denver 4:25 pm Loss
Nov 3 San Diego 1:00 pm Win
Nov 7 @Minnesota 8:25 pm Loss
Nov 17 @Philadelphia 1:00 pm Win
Nov 25 San Francisco 8:40 pm Win
Dec 1 N.Y. Giants 8:30 pm Win
Dec 8 Kansas City 1:00 pm Win
Dec 15 @Atlanta 1:00 pm Win
Dec 22 Dallas 1:00 pm Win
Dec 29 @N.Y. Giants 1:00 pm Loss

I'll call this a pretty optimistic 11-5.

We better win the home opener cuz going to Green Bay on a short week will be tough. Detroit here does not scare me. Oakland on the road does. Trappy. It's before the bye and I don't want us looking ahead to @Dallas. *I think we lose one of these. Chicago at home is a tough game but we might as well kick some ass. Denver probably beats us there. We better kill the Chargers. The Vikings owe us and will be tough there. Let's sweep the Eagles. The 49ers should struggle here. This will be a real statement game for us. We follow up by beating the GMen here. KC too. We pay Atlanta back in their house and clinch the division by sweeping Dallas. The GMen pull out all the stops in the last game and knock out the Cowboys by beating us in NY. Cousins plays a half.

We get a bye then beat Seattle. Then we host Atlanta for the NFC and beat 'em again. Then we pay Denver back in the Super Bowl.

Why the hell not?

to be realistic we can also beat the 49ers and the giants at home (well ... in NJ) - what's the point?

the roster has not been completed yet and this group as it is now can play and win every game this season

The REDSKINS may not win every game this season but they definitely COULD :D
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

That's why I went 19-0. There isn't one game where I can honestly say I don't think the Redskins win. They will probably lose a few, but I'm not about to pick the individual games, because in my mind, they should be able to beat any team on the schedule.

meh. I get the Skins love and everything, and its definitely more warranted this year than ever. Honestly though, if we were all putting $500 down to make a guess, I kinda doubt there would be any 19-0 predictions. I'll take that action though if you want to give it a shot. ;)

What don't you understand about "They will probably lose a few?" Realistically, I understand that they are highly unlikely to go undefeated, but there's not a team on the schedule that I think should beat us. What I am saying is that every single game is winnable.

I'm sure its true that every game is winnable. But that's not a PREDICTION. You can't predict that they're going to go 19-0 AND they're probably going to lose a few.

I'm not trying to harass you, man. I'm just asking, if you had $500 riding on it, given what you know about the NFL, what would your prediction be for this season?

12-4 or 13-3, depending on injuries. But my point was to the people predicting certain games as losses. I just don't see it. Barring a major injury, I don't see any particular game that can be chalked up as a loss. That is why I went 19-0.

Nice. I get your point about the games though. Predicting certain games is kind of crazy. Seems like we almost always beat some good team in a surprising way and the lose to some garbage team. Hopefully that will be less likely this year.

I think you always have to respect (using that term loosely) the NFC east. So I figured if we're going to lose at least one game in the division, I'd guess the Giants away. And I gave a loss to the 49ers on MNF, but I'd be less sure about that now. Seems like they are having some injury trouble early.

Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Btw anybody seen any new pre-season predictions out there in the sports media lately? I'm curious if our stock is on the rise a bit with RGIII running around out there so much.

Some of the preseason faves have had some injuries too.

12 and 4 if we stay reasonably healthy and our new defensive backs work out.

16 and 0 if Robert and Alfred stay who they are, others stay healthy and the defensive backs are as good as they seem.

Six and ten if Robert goes down in the first part of the season. He's the most important player in the NFL right now.

As part of his ESPN playoff prediction series, NFL analyst Mark Schlereth picked us to win the East. Says RG3 not playing in pre-season will be a big advantage for us as far as new wrinkles in the offense going unseen.

If these four guys can stay healthy all season: Griffin, Morris, Davis, Garcon, I would not be suprised by 14+ wins at all.

The odds against us winning the ...

SB are 20 to 1,

NFC 10 to 1, and

NFC East 9 to 5 (co-favorite with Giants).

Our over/under on wins is 8.

Mike and Mike have us at 10-6 (Greeny) and 9-7 (Golic):

AUDIO LINK

Most impartial observers probably think Green Bay, Atlanta, and Denver should beat us in those cities. We can beat anybody but those are games, one could easily argue, we should lose. We are almost sure to be underdogs in those 3 games.

I know whom I'll be picking in Hognostications, though!
Hog Bowl III, V, X Champion (2011, 2013, 2018)

Hognostication Champion (2011, 2013, 2016)

My mind can't even fathom only losing 5 games... That's just my experience was a Redskins fan.

That being said, I'll roll with 11-5 as our best and 9-7 as out worst.

I think I'm in the same boat with CLL. 9-7 would be a disappointment but I think it's a realistic prediction on the lower side. I could see us sliding to 8-8 if we hit a streak of bad luck.

On the higher side, it's hard to say what the ceiling is. I was barely cognizant of the team the last time we went above 10-6 . . . I simply don't know what 11-5 or better feels like. But I'd like to find out!
